THE ROMAN SECOND YP AR C President Sharon Williams Vice President Kerner Primm Secretarv Treasurer Edna Denton Historian Fayge Esserman Colors Yellow and G1een Flower Tullp Motto It 1S only the ignorant who despise education Peculiar Happenings l l'l' lllllll Oh there was such excitement at school today there was a change in everyone As I came into the room at 8 15 who should be seated in his desk but Seab Horton himself I never was so surprised in my life to see him come on time Just then Frank Rash walked ln and his hair had turned black over night My' how everyone laughed' And right behind him came Agnes Selman how thin she was! We hardly recognized her. But a few minutes later we all heard a terrible noise and what do you suppose it was? Why Velma Pir- ker came in shouting ' I left my lipstick at home. What will I do without it! Just then we saw at the door a tall fig- ure which had to stoop to enter but when he had come in we all recognized him to be our old friend, Billie King. After spelling, Miss Maxwell asked how many words each had missed and to our surprise every one IH the room had made a hundred except James Byars and he had missed every wo1d in the lesson In Biology Mr Tucker asked a number of questions and who do you suppose ans wered them but Louise Sewell In English Davltte Gaston recited his les son Without stuttering and Edna Denton yelled out Miss Maxwell I spent two hours on my English lesson last night so you had better ask me a question. I forgot to tell you that in history Gladys Spann sat so still that we hardly knew she was there. THE ROMAN FIRST YEAR B President Emeliza Swain Vice President Weldon Rogers Secretary Virginia Wooten Prophet Elizabeth Wright Colors White and Gold Flower Shasta Dalsy Motto A class that's worth while is a class that will smile when everything goes wrong Class Prophecy One morning while I was sitting by my window reading a book the postman rang the bell When I went to the door he hand ed me two bills and a letter First I opened the bills one was from Todds Clothing Store and the other was from Smith 8: Whlttenberg s Modlste Shop Then I opened the letter which was from Mary Proctor inviting me to stay a few weeks with her in New York. I had been teaching for nine long months at Athens and was thrilled at the idea of spending my Vacation in New York. I immediately sat down and answered her letter telling her that I would leave the following morning by aeroplane. I stopped at Washington D. C. to e Emeliza Swain who was the President's pri- xate secretary. Emeliza invited some friends for dinner that night and who should be there but Olive Watson who was a libra rian Weldon Rogers, who was the proprle tor of the largest hotel there and Vlrglflla. Wooten who was secretary to Clyde Angle, a member of the Presidents Cabinet The next morning we went to a lecture on wo man suffrage given by Velma Thomas That afternoon found me ln New York Mary and Eugenia Rutland met me at th station. They had been talking to Margaret Shaw and Clara Ella Porter who said they were leaving for Naples where they were to study art. One day We decided to visit old friends who were living in New York.
