And when we reflect back upon the days we’ve spent here, no two people shall remember them exactly the same way, for we all have different perspectives. We may all read the same passage, but our interpretations may be different. We may all view the same picture, yet only a few may find it beautiful. Our perspec- tives set us apart as individuals. We must be careful never to con- sider only our personal perspectives, for whether they be rich or poor, wise or foolish, we may learn much by looking at things through the eyes of another. The painter uses his eyes To create a picture for us to see But when his canvas dries We all may see it differently 4 s 6 7 10 11 Valedictorian Edward A. Wolff III, having attained a scho- lastic average of 96.7%, is the Valedictorian of the Class of 1977. Edward has been active in many school activities. He has received a Letter of Commendation, a Regents Scholarship and has also won a scholarship from the Syracuse University Citizenship Education Conference. Edward has been an active member in the National Honor So- ciety, Rome Free Academy Band, Orchestra, Chorus Rome Brass Ensemble, Rome Civic Band and Colgate Seminar. In addition to his musical ability he has shown his athletic ability by partic- ipating in such sports as soccer, basketball, sail- ing and tennis. Edward has applied and has been accepted at American University, Syracuse Uni- versity and Indiana University. Salutatorian Harry James Brown, the Salutatorian of the Class of 1977, closely followed Edward with an academic average of 95.5%, Harry has been a very active member of his class. He has been a member of the Rome Free Academy Varsity soc- cer, indoor track and track teams, the Block R Club, National Honor Society, and the Boy Scouts. In addition, he has received a Letter of Commen- dation and a Regents Scholarship. Harry has ap- plied to Abilene Christian College and Auburn University. Sensational Seniors Of Seventy-Seven I hope the class of '77 have enjoyed and benefited as much from this past year as much as I have enjoyed and learned from a truly fine group of people. ''As we leave R.F.A., we will be setting new goals and bigger dreams for ourselves in the future Best of luck to everyone and keep pushin . Mark Hall—President Mr. Kunkel—Advisor As the first graduating class in America's third century, I feel our senior class has set standards that will be followed, hopefully, for years to come. Marianne Haydon—Vice- IVesident All of us seniors think the year went by too fast, for we were active all year and will leave R.F.A. with many meas- urable memories. Sue Vittorello—Secretary My thanks go out to all those who helped make the most of my senior year—it's been the best! Emily Hayden—Treasurer 77 The years have gone by quickly. As seniors, we will remember our senior 77 year with the fondest of memories. We've been through a lot—everything 77 from planting 19,000 crocus bulbs to the highlight of the year, the Sen- ior Ball. It's been gTeat being involved with so many super people who make up the Class of 1977 and with all of the activities the class has sponsored: Oh Jung Yong, our Korean foster child, our first class float (which would have placed first if iVfr. Kunkel had been a shop teacher!), the Senior Play Arse- nic and Old Lace, the many summer car washes and snow cone sales, the Winter Weekend Semi-formal, and many, many more. Thanks for giving us this opportunity and, again, thanks for the memories. — The Class Offi- cers of '77; Mark Hall, Marianne Hay- don, Sue Vittorello, Emily Hayden 16 Todd Amann Richard Androwski Disc Anken Robert Anno Andrew Arthur Roger Artigiani Thomas Augustine Terri Auricchio Harriet Austin Kevin Austin Valerie Austin Carmine Avantini David Averill Kimm Avery Colleen Babcock 17 Elaine Badolato Thomas Baker Lome Barber Deborah Barone Lucille Barretta Rhea Bean Craig Beckley Daryl Beckwith Willie Bender Elizabeth Benjamin 18 Steven Benjamin Mark Benn Renee Bentsel Murat Bicakci Deborah Bigalow Leslie Biggs Michael Bilodeau Jody Biondi Donna Bishop Wendy Blackburn Evelyn Blanchard Rosemary Blanchard Annemarie Blank Anne Boardman Randolph Bondarenko Theresa Bosco Judy Bowman Cleta Brantley Ralph Brasacchio Michele Bravo IV Scott Breault Ginecn Brcment Deborah Briggs Arthur Brodock Stella Bromley Evelyn Brooks Angeline Brown Harry Brown Kimberly Brown Sayun Bulle Daniel Bunal Charlene Burke Judith Bushong Barbara Byrne Ruthann Cadrette 20 David Cady Laura Calicchia Carl Calnero Tom Campanaro Crystal Campbell Letcia Carr Susan Carrier Patricia Cartwright Claudette Carunchio Mark Cassese Anthony Cercsoli Mark Chadboume Susan Chapin Christine Chicaferro Gary Chirillo Christine Chmielewski Timothy Christopher Carol Cingranelli Linda Cingranclli Miranda Clark 21 Sandra Coffey Christine Cole Karen Coleman Tammy Coleman Gary Collara Donna Coluccio Gary Cohiccio ayne Combs Anthony Coniglio Anthony Consiglio 22 Deborah Cumming Terri Cunningham Linda Czech Kimberly D'Aiuto Gerald Crouth Gregory Darton Elizabeth Davis Barbara Dean .Matthew DeBella Carmella DeBonzo Lvnn Decker Terri DeGeorge Brenda Dekin Nancy DeLutis Dena DelVecchio 23 Scot DeSantis Jody DeSimone Richard Destito Terry Dewey Jeffrey Dickinson Anthony Dillon Karen DiMaggio Frederick DiPaolo Judith Dixon Nicholas Dixon 24 Debbie Doe Theodore Dombrowski Elizabeth Domurat John Donahue Dale Doren Robin Dunn Nancy DuPont Michael Eaton Corene Echols Timothy Edick 2S Belinda Edwards John Eggan Patricia Ehlenfeldt Robin Elmer Karen Engle Mina Evans Stephen Farmer Stephen Farney 4L 26 Teresa Farnsworth Maureen Favata Paulette Feole Joseph Ferlo Roberta Fernandez Gina Fcrrare Alfred Festa Ken Flaminio Paula Fleming Lori Fragapane Donna Francocur Diana Frank Sharon French Diane Froio Pat Callivan Bill Camela Paul Genovese Lynette Gillette Gregory Givens James Gladwin Karen Gladwin Eileen Classo Judy Goetz Lori Goetz 27 Frank Gowett Anthony Grande Gail Gray Janice Gray Theodore Grinnell Carmel Guiliano Harold Hall Mark Hall Deanna Hamilton Holly Harlow 28 Karen Harms Kenneth Harris Debra Hartley Glen Haunfelner Sabine H'A'uscr Brian Hawkins Timothy Hawkins William Hawkins Emily Hayden Marianne Haydon Cindy Haywood Kevin Heaney Tina Hedrington Kim Heidrich David Henderson Mark Henderson Jody Henry Louis Henry Bonnie Hesler Kathleen Higgins Kevin Hiscock Harold Hitchcock Robert Hoke Craig Holberger Douglas Holdridge 29 Lan-y Holm Kenneth Holt Donna Holtz Edward Horn Donald House 30 John Huss Edward Hyatt Luigi Impicciatore Christopher Ingham Robert Irish Maryrose Iuorno Connie Jamagin Charlene Jetton Joanne Johnson Mark Johnson Barton Jones Louis Jones Michael Jones Patricia Jones Steven Jones 31 David Jordan Kimberly Jowers Paul Jutzeler Keith Kanclerz Jill Kaplan Raymond Kessler J. The Jovial, Jocular, Jubilant Juniors Wanda Watson—President Working with people such as the members of the Class of '78 is one of the rewarding experiences that makes teaching worthwhile. As class president, I am honored to represent such a great class I feel that we have been one of the most ambitious and hardworking classes ever to come to R.F.A. We have a lot to be proud of. I am also honored to work with my fantastic co-officers. Mr. Woodard—Advisor I'm glad I had the opportunity to take part in the endeavors of our class. It kept things inter- esting ... to say the least. Michelle Granieri—Vice President 'This year was an . . . experience!? Krista Mead—Secretary Being treasurer lor the past year has been a truly rewarding experience. Working with such enthusiastic and dedicated class officers has been a lot of fun, despite the hard work. 1 hope the Class of '78 will continue to soar to the top. Cathy Leach—Treasurer 78 78 78 78 78 78 78 On behalf of the officers of the Class of 1978, I would like to say that this was a ful- filling year for the juniors. Our main objec- tive was to raise money for our final and most important year at R.F.A. First we started out with several car washes and bake sales. Then, we worked at the concession stand for the football and soccer games. For Fall Weekend, our class submitted a superb float which was as a castle representing RFA, Home of the Black Knights. The people who worked on it deserve much rec- ognition for all the time and effort they put into building it. The next activity on the agenda was the annual R.F.A. Talent Show. We decided to do something a little different with the show and based it on TV's popular GONG SHOW. Our name for it-- Here Today, Gongcd Tomorrow. Not only Juniors, but members of the other classes participated in it. Next is the most waited for activity, the Jun- ior Prom, which we anticipate to be one of the best. Several ideas arc being debated on for remaining class projects. We feel the class has done finan- cially well, and we hope to get much participa- tion and enthu- siasm from the rest of the junior class. We also hope the Class of '79 will follow the successful route we have. --Wanda Watson, President of the Class of 1978. 74 The Sprightly, Spirited, Smiling Sophomores Ellen Kelly—President Mr. Jacobowitz—Advisor As advisor of the sopho more class this year, I can't wait until the next two years to sec how far these kids can go. 1 have really enjoyed being president this year. Thanks to all who sup- ported our class, especial' ly Mr. Jacobowitz.' I have really enjoyed my year as secretary of the sophomore class. We've had a lot of fun and shared many experiences. Wendy Woods—Secretary I feel proud to have served with such fine officers. Ellen, Linda, and Wendy have done a fantastic Job this year. We, as the Class of 1979, hold some- thing special for the future. My year as vice-president has been fun and rewarding. I feel that I have helped our class in some way, and I think we're goi ng to get far here at R.F.A. Linda Cardona—Vice President Dan Chmielewski—Treasurer 79 79 79 79 79 79 79 Quickly forgetting our Strough-Stanley ri- valries, the Class of '79 got off to a good start with a great team effort in our first big project. They told us to build a float ... so we did—a gigantic root beer float which won the Fall Weekend competition. Our next project was designing our class rings. A donkey basket- ball game and many other events are under way. Our class has a lot of good people in it. These people give our class spirit. Thanks to everyone who support- ed our projects during the year, and a special thanks to Mr. Jacobowitz for being a wonder- ful advisor. He helped us make quite a few- big decisions we had to make. He gave us the support we needed in our first year at R.F.A., and we're sure everyone is grateful. We're also sure that if this year is any indication of what the next two years will be like, we'll really have a good three years. The sophomores have add- ed much to R.F.A., and we hope that we will go on doing so. — The Officers of the Class of 1979-EUen Kelly, Linda Cardona, Wendy Woods, and Dan Chmielewski. 7 5 101 Mr. Martinez Sophomore 102 Mr. Kenny Sophomore ROW 1: CraiR Loson, John Loparco, Jennifer Love, Rosemary Lopez, Lynne Lombino, Rene Lou- nello, Tamara Larson ROW 2: Lcanna Lawler, Rodney Little, John LeRRCtt, Robert Lopes, Er- nestin LeftridRe, Jan Lincc ROW 3: CraiR LaPlantc, Laverne Littler, David Leach, Mike LchiRh, Carolyn Lim, Carolyn Lichko, Penny LichtcnbcrRer ROW 4: Tim Lee, Joe Leftwich, Jim Lauri ROW 1: Marcia Morris, Becky Miller, Valerie Moyer, Kristy Matt, CraiR Moffat ROW 2: Jamie Mills, Diana Mills, Joni Money, Maureen Money, Wesley Mills, Diane Motley ROW 3: Leon Misurda, Joe Militello, Paul Montoya, Brian Murer, Scott Morccroft, Donald Mull, Derrick Mims, Mary Ann Nardsico, Maria Muse ROW 4: Kenneth Morrow, Ralph Moses 103 Ms. Allen Sophomore ROW 1: Tammy Bartlett, Lauri Beckwith, Molly Berry, Patty Bator, Sue Bates, Sue Bator ROW 2: Jordan Beam, Sue Bell, Kim Benner, Leigh Baynes, Kathy Bentley, Cathy Barnett, Chuck Barn, Kent Basham, Joe Barry ROW 3: Rick Barnes, Dan Bentley, Dan Bates, Ron Bartels, David Bird, Anthony Banrctta, Frank Biamontc, Ben Bathke 104 Ms. Tanny Sophomore SEATED: James Turley, Nancy Turley, Joann Tavcres, Tammy Underwood, Valerie Taroney, Michelle Thompson, Margaret Swinney. With enormous enthusiasm, the cast, crew and loyal supporters felt more shows must go on. Hence the organization of the group. The next event was a radio play presented Christmas Eve on WRNY. A Christmas Carol was another feather in their cap as the kind folks at WRNY worked with the club in taping the produc- tion. Another success was behind them as they moved ahead. Today is a Day of Ending, A Day of Beginning, A Day to be Remembered, Cherished, and Loved. A.F.S. Exchanges I was an exchange student in Izmir, Turkey for ten weeks last summer. I stayed with a retired colonel, his wife, and their twenty-year-old daughter. Turkey is a de- veloping nation. The lives of most Turks are greatly influ- enced by old traditions, the religion (Islam), and their fam- ilies. The Turks are friendly and giving, and they always take the time to help others. All my experiences will stay with me for the rest of my life, but the greatest part of my A. F. S. summer is that, by being away, I had the chance to realize how much I love my family and how lucky I am to be an American. Tami went to many places and did many things. She visited Custer's Battlefeild, Yellowstone National Park, Old Faith- ful and various local museums. She attended the school's fall week- end ceremonies which inded a picnic, football game, car caravan and a dance. She also attended various banquets and gave two pre- sentations and a speech on Are Americans Too Rich? The play is about two elderly sisters who have a crazy whim to poison elderly gentlemen, then bury them in their basement. This peculiar habit oftheirs leads to other scenes involving their three nephews. One thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt, one escaped from a mental institution for the criminally insane, and the other is very much in love. Mrs. Karen Cole did a splendid job in directing the senior class members who put on such memorable performances and those who worked behind the scenes as well. Ar- senic and Old Lace was a senior play put together with lots of effort, practice, and fun--the ingredients which made it so successful. “Time Passes On” On June 4, 1976 the R. F. A.
