Block R Club The Block R Club, honor society of ath- letics, is composed of superior R.F.A. ath- letes. It is a service club directed by Miss Demers and Mr. Bruce. In order to become a member of the club, a student must play a Varsity sport and receive recommendation from the coaches. It was organized to create an interest in athletics. The club hopes to develop outstanding leaders, good sports- manship, and a feeling of loyalty to R.F.A. Row 1 Barb Rice, Ann Bartolotti, Calhy Hu , Gail Vance, Kathy Athline. Headed by Mr. Endres, the Rome Free Academy Marching Band plays at many city and school activities. All members of Concert Band and Wind Ensemble are re- quired to take part in the practices and perfor- mances of the organiza- tion. Stage Band, a voluntary organization, is made up of musicians interested in non-classical music. A relatively new group, it has performed in many concerts and played at the Chamber of Com- merce banquet this year.

France Piemonte. Robin Huro, Maria Brawachio. Mary Loo Magnanlu Colorful orange and black banners, posters, and buttons are the symbols of R.F.A.'s Pep Club. Throughout the year, its members can be found cheer- ing the football team on to victory and decorating the stadium for Friday night games. They- have also been found making spirit-inspiring posters and selling banners to promote Orange Country basketball. Led by a history teacher, Mr. DeSantis, the Pep Club has organized several traditional activities such as the funeral march and buriel for the U.F.A. coffin after R.F.A.'s victory. A spirit of R.F.A.” float was the Pep Club's contribution to this year's Fall Weekend Float Parade. Pep Club also arranges transportation to out-of-town sports events for the convenience of all R.F.A. students. 25
