In Memoriam One of the saddest memories is the death of Peter Cataldo. The year 1966, in passing, took the lives of three R.F.A. boys: our Pete, and Scott Caldwell and James A. Kochan of the class of '66. The tree, given in memory of Pete by the class of '67, will live where he could not. But it can never give to others the wonderful warmth he gave to us so freely. PLANT A TREE by Lucy Larcom WE WHO PLANT THIS TREE PLANT A HOPE WE WHO PLANT THIS TREE—WE PLANT YOUTH Rootlets up through fibers blindly grope; Vigor won for centuries in sooth; Leaves unfold into horizons free Life of time, that hints eternity! So man’s life must climb Boughs their strength uprear; From the clouds of time New shoots, every year Into heaven's sublime On old growths appear Can'st thou prophesy, thou little tree Thou shalt teach the ages, sturdy tree, What the glory of thy boughs shall be? Youth of soul is immortality WE WHO PLANT THIS TREE—WE PLANT LOVE Tents of coolness spreading out above Wayfarers, we may not live to see Gifts that grow are best Hands that bless are blest Plants! Life does the rest!
