Sykes, Ba nd The band, under the capable direction of Mr. John Wise, is the most reknown of the area. As a concert band, it performs several evening concerts during the course of the year as well as assemblies for elementary and junior high schools. Popular as well as classical music is included in these programs. Each fall, as a marching band, it assumes an important role in Rome Free Academy's school spirit at the Black Knight football games and pep rallies. Intricate half- time shows are performed and the students of R.F.A. are led in musical cheers. This adds not only to our own school spirit, but also increase s the competition between the two rival schools at each game. The height of this year came with the exchange program with the band of Tenafly, New Jersey. It proved to be a rewarding experience. New friendships were made, and the music performed by the two bands was enjoyed by all. R.F.A.’s band has truly added to school and community affairs. They should be commended for the splendid representation they have given R.F.A. and its students. First Row: B. Lauri, M. Kanoff, L. Tyezinski, K. Trowell, J. Frohlich, J. Jacobs, S. Arbes, P.
