Joseph Palombi, Chairman James Angelo Elaborate, fool-proof experiments in physics lab, explosions an sweet-smelling burned sulfur in chemistry lab, and the latest frogs in biology lab all indicate the modernness of RFA’s science d partment. Our science department aims at a solid science back ground for every student, not just the science majors. Adding to the old stand-bys of biology, health, earth science, chemistry, and phys- ics, some relatively new courses are being offered. Physiology and genetics are both one semester college-level courses. Life science is a one-semester course that gives a biological background to the stu- dent not taking biology; and physical science is a year course that gives a background in the physical sciences—chemistry, physics, and earth science. Also indicative of our advanced science department Is the second year of experimental courses in biology and chemistry. The modernized math program at RFA is suited to meet all future tastes. For students to whom mathematics is not their main dish, there are the business math courses. Mathematical gourmets, on the other hand, will be quite pleased with the tantalizing geometric proofs of Math 10, the piping hot logarithms of Math 11, and, if the in- termediate algebra and trigonometry of Math 11 is not too hot to handle, the richly satisfying advanced algebra of Math 12A. The real math-hungry will find the Math 12C course with calculus and ana- lytic geometry just yummy. Since students this year did not demand solid geometry, the Math 12B course was not listed on the menu. As usual there will be side courses of algebra and trigonometry for students who find advanced math a little too hard to digest. This year for the first time, RFA filled the order for students with a taste for computer work. The computer programming course that began cooking during the summer school of last year has risen to be a half-year course.
