Three new players broke into the varsity. The team worked feverishly in preparation for the tough schedule. Our team opened its season with a bang on December 12 by smothering 2 hopeless Oneida team with an exhibition of shooting rarely seen. The final count was 58 to 28. The Academy cagers next went to Utica to play Proctor and found themselves on the short end of a 36 to 24 score as the veteran Proctor sharpshooters easily found the range. R. F. A. then came back to beat U. F. A. in the following game by a 36 to 27 score. On January 5 our team met and defeated a Whitesboro five by a score of 37 to 27. The team worked hard to get in shape for its first tussle with $. A. A The contest was a bitterly fought one, which saw the Academy quintet come from behind to cop a hard earned 31 to 28 victory.
