Tm: SrN1oR ANNUAL '-5-15 50 6 sttfllmlw 'X fff ,l JI ii l7f7IC ?l rn, 1' Qi Ju.. 1 W., 1,-iff. -Q -,,.. 442 i HISTORY OF THF CLASS OF 1914 President LESLIE FAULDS Vrce Preszdcnl MARGARLT E GROGAN .Surclaru and Treasurer RHODA THALMAN With the streaming colors of green and whxte the class of I9l4 held nts Grammar School graduatxon exercnses m the Academy Assembly Hall une 23 9I0 Iwenty elght out of one hundred and two members recerved a standmg of mnety per cent or more Upon entermg the Academy all of the members were treated wxth much respect by the upperclassmen The majority of the class took up the new studies ln a brlghter sprrlt than ever before Most have worked faithfully and under the excellent teachmg of the dlfferent teachers expect to pass thenr exammatzons xn une Ihe present officers were elected after the Regents' Exammatxons last January when a meetmg was called for that purpose When the honor roll was issued for last term lt was headed by one of our most dns tmgulshed members Alfred Gillette who recened an average standmg of mnety seven and sux tenths per cent A large number of the other members w ere also on the Inst Ihe 5lfIS of the class are also worthy of rruch pralse Many are wldely known for thelr good work IH Engllsh We are espe clally proud of our fme musclans among them Ihere IS a number of excellent Latm students mcludmg both boys and gurls sephme Rowland may be classed as one of as one of the best among the boys Arthur Roberts an emment member worthy of congratulatlon as he IS the first base ball manager to be selected from the Freshmen class ln the history of the Rome Free Academy It IS expected that he will make good as he has arranged for a num ber of games wlth dlfferent I-Ilgh School teams No member of the class could be more fitted for the work than Mr Roberts lied Whlte that famous half back on the Rome Free Academy Foot Ball Team last season we ar all proud to IS member of our class He made many of the gams which often resulted ln the wm nmg of the game 'Ihe team was composed of many other good players and substitutes from our class As the summer vacatlon approaches we begun to reallze that our first Hugh School year ns drawmg to a close In the future lt wlll mean a great deal to the entering classes IH the Academy to look back and think of the strength of that honorable class o l9l4 Dean Bxrnald readmg III VITQII Three t1mesI strove to cast my arms around her neck and that s as far as I got Mlss Blelby Miss Blelby 'lWell, Mr Barnard, I think that was qulte far enough N - L . 27 o I lb lab!
