MAN ARRIVES. . . . Arms outstretched . . . eyes open . . . wide. Man arrives to meet the constant change and changing constancy of the college environment. He ascends (de- scends?) into the heights (depths?) of palm trees, Mediterranean architecture, and lawn sprinklers. A search has begun, a search for— for The Great Question Mark. Man has arrived, and that is sufficient. He does not ponder absolutes or ultimates. Man is simply— difficultly, painstakingly— searching. Drive is sufficient, direction superflous. The arms are outstretched. The eyes, wide open. Within the span of four years, Man must search his isolated reality for resolution. It is a time of quest, a time for preoccupation with trivia and ignorance of the consequential. A time to Become. But, yet, still, most important, Man has arrived.

1966 TOMOKAN If we must learn by our mistakes and profit from our proficiencies, the TOMO- KAN has as its purpose the recollection of the mistakes and proficiencies in a stu- dent ' s life at Rollins College. Here is all the meaning and meaninglessness of one year —and all years— of academic discipline and extracurricu- lar chaos. To the student surveying his recent past and to the graduate reviewing his for- mer history, may the TOMO- KAN serve as a reminder of all that was learned and all that was profitable.
