WARD Assistant Treasurer and Comptroller When Rollins College was founded in 1885, the State of Florida granted a charter which provided that the policies of the school be enacted by a board of trustees, numbering not more than twenty-one nor less than nineteen. Thus, the powers of the trustees are provided by law. Their duties are to appoint all faculty and administrative positions, to handle the en- dowments and investments of the college and to ac- quire property. Many of their powers are delegated to the Presi- dent, some to the faculty, and certain powers to the student body through the Student Association. Two regular meetings are held each year, one dur- ing Founder ' s Week and another in Commencement Week; but special meetings are called if necessary. During the rest of the year an executive committee handles the routine business of the college. Each member serves a three year term. The board every year asks the Alumni Association to name one alumnus to serve for one term. At the present, ten of the twenty trustees are alumni of Rollins College. 14
