THE 1968 ROLLING LOG Published by the Senior Class ROLLING PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL ROLLING PRAIRIE, INDIANA We Finish to Begin We finish to begin: Not to die and come alive once more. .. Not reincarnate as some bird or some boar... Not to start our lives again. We just leave our sheltered worlds, And enter another which we long to know... To make a place in. .. to watch dreams grow... To find that ultimate place for each where happiness unfurls. We finish to begin: As we leave this temple of learning, To begin a world of earning. But after we leave, what then? Will the knowledge that we have gleaned here, Send us on our ways; So that through the coming days, We'll grow nearer the goals we hold so dear? A respect for the wisdom and a desire to build our minds, It gave us as it taught us the knowledge of men And as we finish to begin, if we wish to really begin; Let's hope that we don't leave these cherished things behind. TO THE SPIRIT” OF THE ROLLING PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL AND ALL THAT IT HAS MEANT TO THE MANY STUDENTS WHO HAVE PASSED THROUGH THESE DOORS TO ENTER THE WORLD—A BETTER PERSON—WE, THE 1968 ANNUAL STAFF DEDICATE THIS YEARBOOK. This annual we wish to dedicate To the spirit of Rolling Prairie High, The school we're all about to leave, For its inevitable end grows nigh. A new school is built, and an old one lost, To lay dwarfed in the greater one's shadow; But that new one cannot... will not... shall not Darken the place in our hearts deep and hallowed. Though in largeness it was lacking, Its largess to us was grand: It gave us the spark and the knowledge, Upon which the mind, soul, and life must expand. So, for as long as we live, our loyalty we'll give, To the one school we’ll hold high forever more. Yes, Rolling led us well, and taught us to excel; So we thank you, as for the last time, we walk proudly out your door. Jim Breaux
