o 0 A MOMENT OF YOUTH A moment to laugh. • • and raise your eyes to the stars, to hear the wind blow cold outside and feel a raindrop on the palm of your hand. A moment to stop. . . and watch a sunbeam dance across your desk, to think long, long thoughts and sigh at years to come. A moment to be strong and sure. • . but also uncertain and a little afraid, but only for a moment. . • A MOMENT OF YOUTH d TABLE OF CONTENTS FACULTY CURRICULUM ORGANIZATIONS ATHLETICS ACTIVITIES CLASSES SENIORS w Youth is a fleeting moment of joy in the morning of our life, a moment quickly felt, stubbornly endured, and totally cherished. This is the time when we try to catch life; for youth, catching life is not difficult. This moment offers us unlimited opportunities to learn about life. We find new fields of interest through our daily studies. Everywhere we go, we sense the importance of friendship. After school, we experience the satisfaction of fulfilling our responsibilities, whether through work on the ball field, in clubs, or in activities. To capture every facet of this exciting life, we are constantly on the move. Sometimes we become so busy that we lose sight of what we really want and need in life. So we stop for a moment and look out a v indow, or listen to the choir practicing, or just run our hand along the smooth wood of a desk; and in our minds, a dream takes shape, a dream with a plan for our future years. Despite our moments of dreaming, youth is a time of realistic living. We find that to reach our goals, we must first overcome many difficulties. We experience the dilemma of adjusting to society while still remaining an individual. But we take comfort in the knowledge that there is always someone to help and encourage us—a parent, a teacher, a friend. But so quickly another year, with its own problems and joys, comes to an end. Before we realize it, the last chapter in the textbook is completed, and the last class has ended. Many of us will look back again next year to ponder our questions, endure our problems and cultivate new friendship. Others of us will leave Rolling Prairie to undertake greater responsibilities, experience new challenges, and increase our understanding of the world in which we live. But we will never forget this year at R.P.H.S. this fleeting acquaintance with sunshine and rain, dewdrops and frost THIS MOMENT OF YOUTH MOMENT OF XCUT.-i Our MOMENT OF YOUTH has all but departed; Our moment is gone, a new one has started. For us it's a venture-but doubts will not last; The old ways have left us, the fears have all passed. To us it's a juncture-the moss on the stone, But as we roll faster our goals will be shown. We pause for a moment to sigh and to ponder, But then we gaze on to moments much fonder. What'er we choose, no matter what we decide, The choice is now ours and wefve nothing to hide. Though now wefre much older, and wiser by far, We pause for a moment to gaze at a star; A st r with its lofty perpetual height Gives us inspiration, and guidance with light. We all have our star-our drive or our aim; We'11 all achieve wisdom, knowledge, or fame. Though some, more than others, we cannot deny. We all have potential, if we will but try. But as for this moment, we're new at the game; We each have our vision-not one is the same. Our MOMENT OF YOUTH we will never forget; The joy and the sadness-we'll never regret. The ball g. mes, the dances, the challenge to learn. They're gone now forever, and cannot return. There's nothing left now of our MOMENT OF YOUTH But the magnificent meraory-we hold that in truth. Commencement tirr.e marks, in reality, not an ending but a beginning to life Our efforts have been directed to the accumulation of knowledge and preparation for life. Commencement time marks a changing period in our life, for now we will be expected to assume the duties and responsibilities of an adult, putting into actual practice the knowledge and skills we have been building over the past years. We will cherish the memories of high school life and the many friendships we have developed here. We have accepted our challenge and asserted a definate drive forward.
