Labor Day, no school. It has been a long time since the students had a vacation so soon after school started. Baseball season started with our first game at Union Township. The Juniors held their first skating party at La Porte Casino. It was a big day for us Seniors. It was the Freshman Initiation and the poor kids could hardly sit down the next day. Oh Happy Days! ! ! The teachers went to school and we had a vacation. The Juniors had another skating party. Washington trip. An exciting four days in the life of ten of our Seniors. The Senior play, See How They Run, was presented by ten of the best actors in the Senior class. Basketball season started with a big Bang! ! ! Our rival was New Carlisle who beat us by 10 points, 55 to 45. Everybody came to school primped up; pictures were taken by Koch Studio. A big night for the Bulldogs, they whalloped Wheatfield by a score of 66 to 24. Another institute for teachers. This time it was on a Saturday. Boo Hoo! ! ! G.A.A. initiation for new members. The girls had a nice time. We played a rough game at Hann, but we won 46 to 32. Another thrilling game played at Union Mills. We hate to say it but the score was 44 to 40 in their favor. Yippee! ! ! Thanksgiving vacation for everyone this time. The Bulldogs played a good game at Westville; we won by a score of 56 to 49. We didn't want to tell you this but Greene Township beat us on their own floor 49 to 47. Clinton went home feeling sad. Why??? We beat them 61 to 36. A good time was had by all at a Benefit Dance held for Lloyd Upp. Guess what! North Liberty beat us by a score of 59 to 39. Oh, well! ! ! You can't win every game. We whalloped Kingsbury 74 to 58 on their floor. All G.A.A. girls were busy working like mad to prepare the gym for the G.A.A. Formal Dance. A delightful music program was given at night by the Band and Glee Club. 37 DEC. 23 to JAN. 4 JAN. 1 JAN. 5 JAN. 15 JAN. 16 JAN. 20-23 JAN. 23 JAN. 25 JAN. 27 JAN. 29 FEB. 5 FEB. 6 FEB. 8 FEB. 12 FEB. 16 FEB. 17 FEB. 18 FEB. 24-27 The best part of the year for everyone but Seniors. The score was 64 to 62 in an overtime with New Carlisle winning. For the first time in a long time, we played St. Mary's on their floor and the score was 58 to 38, our favor. Tests! ! ! End of first semester. We don't know whom it was the hardest for, the teachers or the students. Another basketball game and what an exciting one. We beat Mill Creek by a score of 53 to 47. Walkerton came here feeling good and went home the same; of course, the score was 55 to 47, their favor. An exciting four days. The county tourney started with its happiness and heartbreaks. This day was the happiest of all because in the afternoon we beat Mill Creek in an exciting game by a score of 50 to 48 and then at night we defeated Westville, 54 to 36 to win the county tournament. A general assembly was held in the gym for the students, and the trophies were presented to the school. All the players had to make a speech, which added some comedy to the affair. We started selling Yearbooks today and are hoping for many buyers. Scholarship tests were taken by eight very smart Seniors. Stillwell went home feeling sad after our Bulldogs beat them 69 to 44. Wanatah went home with the blues because the Bulldogs out-scored them 71 to 50. Quite a few of our students came home from Valparaiso with high honors made at the Solo Ensemble Music Contest. An interesting film, Decision for Chemistry, was shown to all Junior High and High School students. A thrilling game was played in our gym to decide who was going to tie with LaCrosse for the County Championship. Rolling won by a decisive score of 61 to 51 over Union Township and therefore are the Co-County Champions. County Seniors were invited to a dance sponsored by the La Porte County Rural Youth Association. The Student Council sponsored an entertaining tramboline act for all students caring to go. We are all smiles today because we drew La Porte for the Sectional. Sectional Tourney starts today. Good Luck Boys. 38 MAR. 1 Today is the last day of work on the annual.
