0460! Having four languages clubs at RMHS enables students to understand a foreign way of life, and experience many aspects of a foreign culture, but more importantly, to learn to share life with the many people of the world. For AFS fAmerican Field Servicei, the year started off by entering a decorated van complete with travel posters, tissue-paper flowers, and streamers in the Homecoming Parade. In November, the members combined expertise salesmanship and gourmet talents to sell, make, and deliver 1186 pizzas. Through this endeavor, the club netted S1800 to help sponsor the exchange student for the following year. During March, AFS played host to eight exchange students from District 214. They spoke to various classes on the lives and customs of their homelands. The German club also began the year by becoming involved in the homecoming spirit. The language stairwell became a place of enchantment through the many-colored balloons, streamers, and posters, all due to the creativity of the German club. The club remained busy throughout the year by displaying bulletin boards and selling their famous Gommi Bears. The French club, under the direction of President Karen Kingsley, has been more active than ever. They participated in the Homecoming Parade by organizing their own French football team, and helped bring the spirit of purple, gold and white to the Foreign Language Resource Center. Activities sponsored by the club included publication of a newspaper, Concours d'Elegance, a car and fashion show, and a presentation of La Belle it lo Machine la scene from the French Revolutionl at the annual French Honor Society Awards night. The Spanish club has come a long way since its beginning three years ago. This year, the club won a first place for their car, ornamented by a large purple sombrero, in the Homecoming Parade. Cultural activities included the preparation of a Spanish pot luck dinner, and the singing of Spanish Christmas carols through the streets of Rolling Meadows. The year ended with 23 members inducted into the Spanish Honor Society. 9 aagmye A foreign exchange student from Brazil, tlefti shares a part of her world with AFS members Bob Bouse and Debbie Mrazek. 43. Whether on the basketball court or before the football crowd, the RMHS cheerleaders always provide enthusiasm, spirit and warm smiles. Besides cheering at sporting events, the cheerleaders coordinated Homecoming activities and sold Lay It On 'Em' Mustangs buttons. The spirit and enthusiasm generated by us will hopefully continue in the years to come. Cindy Reel shows displeasure with the football game score. VARSITY SQUAD: FIRST ROW - Lori Miller, Lisa Menas.
