INTIUIM LS: 08518585 E ll EVER DME Whether it be bowling, playing ping-pong, football, volleyball, or softball, intramurals are for those who enjoy participating in sports but are not up to the commitments and competition involved with school team sports. 'fln intramurals, winning is de-emphasized, our main concern is to have fun, explained sponsor and Counselor Mr. lim Moran. Intramural students ended this year's bowling season with a banquet at BeefandBarrel, where trophies were awarded to both high and low scoring bowlers. Four year intramural enthusiast Mike Belluomini commented, I found Intramurals to be very relaxing, and as secretary of bowling for two years I was able to meet people I ordinally would have not. The radio isn't the only place the sounds of Beethoven, The Beatles and Elton john can be heard. The RMHS Marching Band fthe Concert and Symphonic Bands combinedj provided this entertain- ment to the student body at football games and festivals. Among the many festivals that the Marching Band attended the most enjoyable day was spent at Northwestern University's Annual Band day. There, 5,000 band students covered the football field and performed their own song selections. This year's jazz Band has added many new awards to its trophy case. They took a second in class triple A of the Western lllinois jazz Festival and took a first place in sight reading at the Oaklawn jazz Festival. Individual members of the jazz Band also captured prestigious honors. Four musicians from the jazz Band were chosen to play in the All-Star Band. The musicians included Rod jay on drums, Dave Hill on trumpet, Nick Betzold on guitar and Dave Mester on trombone. Dave Mester also won an outstanding Soloist Award at the Oaklown Festival. The Band year concluded with an exciting trip to California. Stops included San Francisco and Los Angeles, with performances at Magic Mountain, The Queen Mary, and Disneyland.
