P . HELD WINS WAY TEAM B VIGTBRY We lost a lot of power, stated long jumper Joyce Keefer, referring to the graduated seniors, but when the team spirit went up, we started to win again. The girls' track team was basically a young team this year, and it seems that the many novices needed extra coaching-coaching that wasn't always given. Another problem that these girls faced was a lack of team spirit. A lot of the freshmen just sat quietly in the bleachers during the first meet, Joyce added. The team had a pep talk, though, and the new enthusiasm helped generate victories. These triumphs were swayed mostly by the successes of a strong field. junior Sue Vlamis travelled downstate, because of her superiority in both the discus and the shot put. Also, Senior Denise Reitmeyer set a school record of 5'3 in the high jump. These outstanding performances extended to track events as well. junior Bridget C-eegan ran in the 880-and 440-yard relays as well as sprinting the 100- and 220-yard dashes. Another victor, up-and-coming sprinter Patty Macklin, a sophomore, improved greatly in the 440- and 220-yard dashes.
