Student likfwefirtl mera Rate 'Utvitetancl ing The winners of the Mayor's trophy, journalsim award, and School Spirit awards are always recognized for their outstanding achievements. But on occasion someone new steps into the spotlight and receives an award that deserves a round of applause. One such achiever, Martin Huber, won two outstanding awards for his paper and display on the Growth of Chlorella. His paper was also selected as the best in the state of Illinois by the junior Academy of Sciences. This enabled Martin to submit his paper to the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences. Kamran Hashemi, also a dedicated researcher, received two outstanding awards: one for his paper and one for his demonstration dealing with The Effects of Various PH Levels on the Biodegradability of Five Detergents. Freshman john Kendzior also was honored with an outstanding award for his project on The Separation of Drosophilla Eye Pigments Thru Chromatography Techniques. Each of these young men enrolled in Biology research freshmen year. These award winning student researchers have the opporunity to continue their research by taking an independent science course and by participating in the Annual Science Fair in Champaign-Urbana. Pitts Unlimited Elll District 214 dedicated the month of May to acquaint RMHS students and district community members with an Arts Unlimited extravaganza. Throughout the month RMHS, in conjuction with eight other schools in District 214, scheduled activities in which students as well as teachers displayed their talents in the areas of Fine and Practical Arts. Projects ranged from metal sculpture to theatrical scenes of historical events. Arts Unlimited's goal was to broaden people's knowledge of the origins and functions of arts and crafts. The program also gave creative people a chance to show their works and gave amateurs courage to express their own creativity, stated RMHS corrdinator Mr. David Kives. Cast May 12 Historical Enactments: Scenes from France, Germany, and Spain. Lang. Classes May 15-22 FinefPractical Arts Show: Randhurst. May 18-19 Slide Show: World's Fair Exposition. Pete Adams May 18-21 Musical: The King and I. Romedra Players. May 20 Horticulture: Making Things Grow. 214 Hortculture students.
