Was always her room- Never remembering the frosted birthday Cakes Until cleaning day. Or the hugs of loved ones. But, I forget But unhappy experiences- Who used to read me bedtime stories Like purplish bruises Helped me say my prayers or do my math. Or Cold peas hours after dinner Stand out more clearly. I remember how I Cried, Like a cloudy April day I remember how my brothers When he hurt me Teased me And how my eyes were red and swollen And would frighten me when I was alone.
