Pacefzf 45,0 The Pacer Staff devotes 2,520 hours of a school year assembling the school newspaper. Throughout the course of the year, the Pacer Staff distributed thirteen issues and the Senior Sup- plement Magazine. Pacer received a first place award from the National Scholastic Press Association and an International Honor Award from Quill and Scroll. ls spending long hours after school worthwhile? Yes, it definitely is. Sometimes you'd like to quit, but when someone you don't know tells you how great the paper looked, or how great your story was, it makes it all worthwhile, stated Wendy Wink- Iehake. These dahs and dits make up the universal code of hams lAmateur Radio Opera- torsj. On Friday evenings at 7:00 the radio club had their meetings at RMHS. Here they learn and practice this code on a Heathkit HW-16 transceiver, with a 40 meter dipole antenna on the roof. The sponsor, Mr. Richard Kiszka, has been a ham since February of this year. He organized the club and has had up to 20 participants. Radio club member, sophomore Tom Werling.

The Yearbook Staff decided to take a new look at school activities. To make the book fresh and somewhat different, and with the suggestion of professional journalists' associations, the staff added a Special Features section. This section looks outside the school walls to the communities and the nation. The faculty section had traditionally been treated ser- , T iously. As a change of pace, the ' staff decided to have a bit of fun with that section, to add a touch of humor to a characteristically plain section. Coverage grew as the girls' sports program itself has grown. The book's major change which may not be obvious to the reader is that after five years with losten'sfAmerican Yearbook Company, the staff changed printers to Walsworth Publishing Company. The main reason for the switch was that Walsworth offered better prices on color printing. That made it possible for the staff to afford an opening 4 section of sixteen pages in full color.
