Flourishes of purple and white, and the sprite bubbly spirit displayed by the Pom Pon squad delighted the audience at each performance. Songs such as Love Will Keep Us Together, When l'm Sixty-Four , and Make Your Own Sunshine, were chosen for the routines created by Mrs. Guttman, Denise Richards, and Dawn Olson. The girls dedicated their after-school hours to practicing and perfecting these routines. Pride and confidence were the end results. New uniforms, purchased especially for the basketball season, were much cooler than the heavy football uniforms. The Pep Club promoted school spirit throughout the year. To raise money, the girls held a bake sale once a month, sold chocolate bars, and helped out in the concession stand. With these funds, the girls bought large Pep Club buttons to wear at the football and basketball games, as well as the swimming, track, gymnastics, and wrestling meets. I . wo ' e lwckqy Although the Rolling Meadows Varsity hockey team went through three coaching changes and cancellations of practices, they survived a seasonftunique in Mustang hockey annuals. Meadows finished in seventh place in the Mid Suburban League, and even that rather dubious distinction was obtained in a duel for cellar honors in the season's conclud- ing contest. The Mustan s were forced to abandon tieir weekly practices due to lack of financial backing. Dave Miller, former Varsit Coach, sights the players' lack of enthusiasm regarding fund raising activities as reason for part of the team's waning. Plans are being developed to resolve these problems by next winter. Ken Pearson, former Assistant Coach, and a group of men are organizing a plan which would, in part, require each member to shell out 55150. This is compared to S50 previousl . Despite the Varsity's lowest finish in its six- ear history, it was a season that, hopefully, will never be duplicated, and surely not forgotten.
