Schrock E Q Some people don't quite understand what a gym leader does. Well, their job is precisely what their title implies-to provide student leadership in the gym classes. Besides such helper jobs as taking attendance, leading exercises, and distributing equipment, a leader helps keep the class unified-approaching other class members from the student's viewpoint and not from that of an authoritative figure. As sophomores, the members of Girls Leaders Ill exhibited exceptional leadership qualities and were able to join the leaders program a year earlier than usual. Surprising at it may seem, experience as a gym leader can help prepare a personfor the cold, cruel world. If nothing else, there is no better way to learn self assertiveness than to referee a basketball game between two teams of unskilled, overly excited freshmen. LEADER
