Outstanding, rising high school seniors are selected from many parts of North Carolina, to attend each year. The boys have a week of intensive study about all forms of local, state and national govern- ment. Many leading public officials and dignitaries are present to lecture to the boys. The athletic part of Boys' State is very rigorous. Each day theyhave three and a halfhours of swimming, base- ball, basketball, or track. At the end of the week, elections are held and aboy is elected to each office represented in the state.
