Class :story 1 Twelve years ago, under the gu1dance of Mrs Axmear, 22 boys and g1rls took the fust step toward boarding the 1954 Rocket to The Future, ll of wluch boarded the Rocket The ll are Joyce, Don, Beverly, Sh1rley, Harlan Norman, Loren Carolann, Dorothy, Gary and Curtis Miss Cunningham, now Mrs K1ngsbury, shared the respons1b1l1t1es with M1ss Bowles for the second step Before we reached the th1rd step Avis Van Lew and Robert Wicks deserted us but Lawrence Weltha Joined the group During the third step we lost Beverly Grunstad, Joanne Sheldahl, and Slurley Sampson but David Chamberhn Joined us Miss Twedt, now Mrs. Jerald Borwlck, nt the group, now tota11ng 19, to the fourth step where the class was kept intact by Mrs Christopherson who sent a much wiser group to the next step Miss Hoversten, now Mrs Robert Birkeland, lead the group to the slxth step The sixth step was the big one as far as an mcrease 1n memberslup was con cerned We gained Pat Sather, Larry Sorenson, Darwm Twedt, and Jerry Miller After this increase Mrs Clarence Helvig let us advance to the seventh step where M1ss Harrison, now Mrs Francis Thompson,took over She sent the same group to the eighth step with the exception of Jerry Mlller who was replaced by Roscoe Rhen Mr Ned Wall, now deceased, tutored us over the last step of the flrst fhght of steps During the eighth step we lost Marxlyn Amensen and Chuck Weldon but Mary Perln joined the ranks It was a timid group of Freshmen that started the fmal fhght of steps the next year, but when init1at1on was over the timidness turned to confidence Lawrence, who left us for the flrst semester returned for the second, but before the year was over we had lost Joseph Ferkm and Roscoe Rhen The next step wasn't so bad we lost only one member, namely Mary Perin Durmg the eleventh step we gamed two members, Bennie Hill and Jerry Jensen, bringmg the total to 17 For the mnth, tenth and eleventh steps we had ll drtferent mstructors, who after giving several tests saw fit to send us to the fmal step They were Mr Thompson, Mrs Finch, Mrs Aurand, Mr Wilder, Mr Anderson, Mr Cheadle, Mr Swanson, Stone, Mr Enderson, Mr Looft, and Mrs Lehigh After the fmal tests had been given by Mr Thompson, Mrs Fmch, Mrs Lehlgh, Mr Enderson and Mr Looft the 17 members of the class took the final step and boarded the 1954 Rocket to The Future hopmg to fmd success and happiness Ames COLLEGE TOWN STUDIO Iowa Portraits Family Groups Weddings 0 . .
