' Prophec Receiving our assignment from Editor Dave Twedt of ' Esquire Magazine' to do an article on his former classmates, we went down to the Hagen Travel Agency where we were to receive information covering our trip On our way to the travel bureau we ran into Darrel Egemo, famous inventor, who told us in strictest confidence that he was developing a left handed monkey wrench Leaving Darrel and his monkey wrench, we proceeded on our way Crosslng Fifth Avenue, we narrowly escaped injury when we were overtaken by Velda the Voice , formerly known as Mary Ann Bakke, now famous opera star on her way to the Kookla politan Opera House to present Stan T3ernagel's latest opera, entitled The Toad We hardly recognized Velda with her now flaming red hair Continuing on our way we finally arrived at the travel agency, which to our surprise was owned by our old classmate Donna Hagen She entered this profession because of her ability to tell people where to go Donna gave us our tickets and sent us on our way Two days later, walking up the gangplank of the good ship Sinking Enterprise , we noticed a crowd gathered around Chuckie, the doll Hall dolng her famous ballet routine assisted by her ten tralned monkey chorus We talked to Charlene a moment and she stated that she liked her work except with puttmg up with the monkey business After Charlene was put off the ship, we embarked We ran into another old classmate in Key West in the person of Everett Sather, beach comber and pharmacist, owner of the fabulous Last Chance Drugstore As we said good bye to Everett, the ship continued southward to Cuba where we witnessed a parachute act performed by the former Helen Beach and company Much to our surprise we received a stock of bananas from the Slip and Slide Banana Plantation , operated by LaVerne How de Leaving Cuba we traveled on to the Panama Canal where we had to wait for a few days while he was on his third time across the canal He gave credit to his clean living and to Good old Uncle Stan and Cowboy Ken who had encouraged him to eat Cocoa Wheats After Journeying through the canal we picked up Waldo' Frandsen, mul1 millionaire whose yacht had sunk off the coast of Mexico Wallace, looking very haggard, told us that he and hls butler James Olson, who was with him, had been surviving on raw fish for the last month They were very disturbed about the fact that Mr Gary Thompson, governor of Texas, had not sent out a rescue party We brought Wallace and James on to California where we docked next to one of Bessie Amenson s oyster schooners Going on shore, we decided we would like to visit Hollywood to see the former Pauline Hill, who is now the Marilyn Monroe of 1973 Pauline encouraged us to stop at the Robinson Dairy Carnival where Delores Wlerson is in partnership with her husband The star of the show is Bette Jean Larson, the famous fire eater and sword swallower Going back to the ship we were stopped as a procession of ostrlches, herded by Clarlce Borwick, paraded across the highway Clarice has finally settled down after trying her hand at Baboon and Zebra farming as well as being the star of a highly cultural and entertaining dance Needing some refreshments we stopped at ' Marlene s Madhouse where we found Marlene Fosse, owner and proprietor, trying to beat one of her own slot machines Leavlng Marlene we went on to Los Angeles where we would catch our train home since our funds were now exhausted Stopping at Los Angeles we entered a pawn shop where Grace Johnson was pawn broker Grace was reluctant to take the camera but since we were old classmates she reconsidered At last we climbed aboard the Twedt Trans Contmental Streamliner where we ran into Jerry 'IWvedt, owner of the railroad Mr Twedt told us that he was supporting Nancy Swenson for Congress because of her constant crusade for the farmer Her opponent, Ruby Sevde issue is a higher pension for marmes Back ln New York we were immediately picked up for vagrancy The names Cleone Michelson and David Fausch, reporter and photographer of the 'Esquire Magazine , were now on f1le along with other notorious criminals You Can Do Better At CHARLSON S CLOTHES SHOP Story City, Iowa O O . . . , 1 . . , . Daily it hums with activity as the classes fkindergarten through eighth gradej come and go. Friday is Mission Day. This year the school has enjoyed the visits of three missionaries. Miss Juliet Anderson, from the Ashira Girl's School in Tanganyika, Africa, spoke to each class individually during her visit in October. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Noss visited the school twice--the first time to tell about the work and a few days later to show colored slides of the Sudan Mission. Miss Lewis also showed slides of the work in Madagascar where her sister is stationed. By March 17 the following mission offerings were brought. The record for the Rockettes for the current season is 16 wins and 5 losses. The Roland Sextet for the third year has taken the Girls' County Tourna- ment. The first game the Rockettes played was with McCa1lsburg which we won 41-34 avenging a previous loss. Shipley was the next foe with a score of 57-41 and Huxley 67-41. For three years Roland and Gilbert have played in the championship game. This year the Rockettes won by the score of 47-41 in a real thriller. Two of the teams that defeated the Rockettes earlier in the season were later defeated in the second and third games played, namely McCallsburg and Gilbert. Randall was the only team that the Rockettes did not defeat in return engagements. The Rockettes were defeated in the Semi-finals of the Sectional 63-60 by the strong, well balanced Randall squad, a.fter defeating a good, highly rated State Center team in the first round 56-55. The Rockettes participated in an exhibition game which was televised at the Drake fieldhouse during the Girls' State Tournament between the semi-final games. Our opponent was Holstein and the purpose of the game was to demon- strate to the fans the unlimited dribble and 'tying up the ball all over the court. But as of this writing neither one of these changes will go into effect next year. CBE HARDWARE E. E.
