The younger RUS students have new wfays of transportation. Fall Brings the Start of School The end of summer means the beginning of school. This “major event usually causes the buying of new school clothes, seeing old friends with their new curly hairstyles, getting assigned new lockers, riding our new mopeds, and wading through the overall confusion of the first day of school. Queen Tammy smiles for the photographer. On the night of October 5, 1979, Tammy Yenerich was crowned 1979-80 Ranger Band Queen. Tammy was chosen by the Ranger Band because of her leadership abilities and contributions to the band. Tammy played the saxophone, served as drum majorette, and also was a member of the rifle squad. Her escort for the evening was Shelton Rogers, senior trumpet player. Her attendants were Tammy Jordan, escorted by Richard Harris, Lethia Putman, escorted by John Davis, Melinda Barthel, escorted by Rusty Price, and Cindy Daws, escorted by Donnie Boshers. Gret- chen Williamson carried the flowers and Parky Foresee was the crown bearer. Tammy Crowned Gretchen Williamson served as flower girl and Parky Foresee as crown bearer. Shelton Rogers carefully places the crown on Tammy’s head to proclaim her queen. Tammy Yenerich and Shelton Rogers halt for a minute as they exit off the field. 14 Band Night
