Forensics Debate Mr. Raines most definitely did not have his back to his duties this year. Along with Mrs. Cutbirth, he worked with all the kids on the team and helped us all get experience by taking us to many of the tournaments. Although the team as a whole did not do too well, knowledge was gained and enough interest was shown to get us a speech class next year. 57 Band Patti Magerle, Sec.-Treas. Randa Copeland, Pub. Rel. Kneeling: Patti Martin. The 1970-71 girls basketball team was coached by Dennis Bamts. The team played five games, two with the Medford Mid-IIigh, two with Roseburg High School, and one with Phoenix High School. The team ended their season with a three win, two loss record. They won from each school once and lost once to Medford and once to Roseburg. 61 For the first time at the Rogue River High School we had a gymnastics team. The team had relatively few meets what with this being Rogue River’s first year with a team and few girls with any experience. All of the girls did put in a lot of time and effort for what meets and demonstrations they did have and made a fine showing. Next year with their acquired experience and new recruits we should have a good team. The Art Classes collaborated with the Home Economics Classes by painting a back drop of a sea scene. A sail boat and a rock and shell beach completed the background for ninety eight girls who modeled class and home projects. Selections included formals, dresses, shorts outfits and pants combinations of all sorts. The style show was well attended by the local citizenry, and many favorable comments were received by the girls who participated in the show, along with the producer and director, Mrs. Gloria Stout, Home Economics Teacher. Bright blue cotton is the choice of Randa Copeland for an attractive beach suit with elastic webbing at the waist line. White accessories complete the attractive ensemble. Carma Montgomery models a pink satin formal with pink lace sleeves and bodice. The gown is trimmed with tiny ruffles and buttons. Lola Yawn is ready for the sea scene in her white bell bottoms and T shirt of white and green single knit stretch. Sea of Fashion A senior this year, Irene Lee models her Fall project of bright pink banded cotton, trimmed down the front with a tab and contrasting buttons. Mike Hannan joins Janet Morris in modeling matching terry cloth striped T shirts. White pants and brown sandals help create the “look alike” effect. Attractive Carol Clark models a beautiful yellow crystal type organdy trimmed at neckline, bodice, and waist with white lace centered with yellow and green embroidered flowers. Tiny Senior, Judy Cummings, models for the third year a purple striped stretch type topper with heavy duck bell bottoms. We’ll miss her in our show next year. 112 CLASS OF 1971 Elizabeth K.
