Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1957 volume:

Presented By The Yearbook Staff of Rogue River High School Rogue River, Oregon This annual is presented as a pictorial review of the 1956-1957 school year at our high school. We feel that many times the school and its students are judged or viewed by their accomplishments in just one area of attainment rather than by the total areas of endeavor which are offered to the students. Therefore, we wish to present each phase of activity within our school for what it really is: Just one piece of an immense jig-saw puzzle which, only when put in its proper place and viewed in its proper perspective, presents the entire picture of student life at our school. We, the Annual Staff of the ‘57 Ro-Hi-An, dedicate this annual to Mrs. Bevely Hunter and Mr. G.B. Fahey, for their untiring efforts in making our school life more pleasant and for their sincere and personal interest in each student's welfare. We will not only remember you as wonderful teachers, but also as kind and understanding friends. 2 4 Spanish I, English I and III Speech 5 SCHOOL HOARD ROGUE RIVER BOARD OF EDUCATION: LEFT TO RIGHT: Mrs. Helen Williams, Mr. Harold Salter, Mrs. Genevieve Dick, Mr. Robert Gail, Mr Carl Sandeen, Mr. Edward Martin. siUDini council i mm BACK ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: Senior President, Tom Middleton; Junior President, Pat McCabe; Sophomore President, Don Davis; Freshman President, Diane Eranosian; and Advisor, Mr. Hunter. It has been four happy years of being together as friends. This year has really been a fulfillment. We've taken part in many activities and have had lots of fun in the process. We started the year by electing our class officers as follows: Tom Middleton, President; Bob Wilson, Vice-President; and Marvis Shaw, Secretary-Treasurer. Our first activity was a Welcome Freshmen Dance. We sponsored a Spaghetti Feed, Cake Auctions and Soc Hops after games. We raffled several stuffed animals for a nice profit to add to our Senior Skip Trip Fund. The Skip Day turned out to be a big success for all of us. Mr. Fahey and Mr. Paisley added to the fun. We were also the winners of the March of Dimes Drive, in that we raised more money for the fund than any other class. A dance was given in our honor and our candidate, Rebecca Basey, was crowned Queen. We would like to add an extra thanks to the Juniors for the beautiful Junior-Senior Prom. This highlighted our year. Also our thanks goes out to our class advisors for their consideration and help through the year: Mrs. LeRoy BOB ALLEN Ambition: To Travel Around Will: Hunting and Fishing Ability to Leah Wicks Basketball 4 Science Club 4 JV Basketball 1.2 Sno Ball Prince 4 Attended R.R. 12 years BILL DOTSON Ambition: To Be an Admiral Will: Mathematical Ability In Algebra Trig to Frank Meeker. The Science Club, more commonly known as the Ozones, was initiated in Rogue River High School to serve as an outlet for the science interests of some of the students. (It is a recognized fact that the general science class stimulates interest in certain areas but because of limited time and materials these interests have little chance of developing.) It provides time to work on individual projects and also brings together a meeting of the minds, where science students can congregate to discuss the many new discoveries in science which are being made every day. This year's members have participated in two field trips. One of these saw the group venture to Talbe Rock. Later on in the spring of the year, the group again sallied forth. This time the Pacific Coast was the objective. Many specimens of sea life were obtained on this trip and preserved for later study. The club also managed to gather together all the necessary materials to build an aquarium which should take form during the summer months. 32 Horn, M. McKenzie, J. Buckle. FOURTH ROW: Mr. Fahey, A.
