Basketball BASKETBALL TEAM Jackson County B League Champions Lett to right — seated: Don Poite-vint, Lee Wales, Jack Burk—Captain, Eugene Cum-mings, Harry Frantz. Standing: Coach Mi I lard Webb, Dick Dec-kleman, Glen De-puy. Gene Depuy, Pete Purrier, Jim Boulter, Manager Phil HiMis. With their usual drive the Rogue River High basketball team emerged from county conference play in first place for the fifth consecutive year. Although last year the Chieftains won the season's play only to be edged out by J'ville in the ensuing tournament, this trip the team was first in the tournament as well. The Rogues were in particularly good form the night of the district play off with Gilchrist in the Central Point gym. The boys were clicking so hard and fast they made the kind of a ball club one rarely sees in high school games. Forging ohead to the State B Tournament at Union, the team's unbroken record of wins this season was stopped by Union in the semi-finals and the Rogues came out third in the state.
