Around The World I came from Laos, a small country in Southeast Asia. Laos is a poor coun- tryg most of the people there are farm- ers. ln 1975 Laos became a commu- nist country. l left Laos then and I've been in the United States since 1979. Pao is very happy to be living in the United States because here he is free. He hopes to go to Laos to visit, but never again to live. Pao Vue fi 4 Q Maria Bartorell is from Maracay Ven- ezuela and came to the United States with her family. Her family is studying at the University of Toledo. I like school here, but the students seem to avoid me because they think I can't understand them. Maria has been in Mexico, Cen- tral America, Guatemala and Puerto Rico. In the future she plans to go back to Venezuela to study at the University. Maria Bartorelli so YQ by Z4 Future Rams A X, 1 X . . . 3-ff 7 The World l A . U' lil -M, 5' ag.o'K Sb W4 From Around

Rams From American schools are very different from those in Japan, says Saho Harumi. I am slowly getting used to schools here, but I can't get used to pep-assem- r blies. We don't have them in Japan. The 2 A .5 YK. schools in the U.S. are bigger than those 5 2 in Japan. In Japan there are more stu- I G 2 dents in each class. Harumi likes Ameri- l can schools because the students don't have to wear uniforms. Schools in Japan run for 3 terms: April to July, September to December and Jan- uary to March. That gives them only one month's vacation all year. X . o o German Meyra is from Columbia, South America. This year was full of marvelous personal experiences for me. With all kinds of lovely people, I had the opportunity to learn the English Ian- guage. I have only to tell all of you THANK-YOU. German hopes to come back in the future as a visitor or possibly as a college student. 5'i,,,,...ff-- German Meyra I arrived in the United States in the beginning of August and plan to return to Finland in July, says Seija Ali-Lekkala. She loves the USA and is really having a good experience here. Americans have been very friendly and helpful to me. My host family is also very nice and I will miss them a lot. In Finland everything is small. Finnish school is harder, but less fun. Besides the USA, Seija has been in Sweden, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and England. When she finishes school, Seija wants to work in Sweden or Germany and return to the U.S. for visits. wk ' ,, Saho Harumi - Seija Ali-Lekkala

A Blast From The Past Rogers has the distinction and honor of having a few of its alumni as faculty members now. After careful scruting, we interviewed two of these alumni for their views of the Rams now and then. Miss Vicki Blair is a 1973 graduate of Rog- ers. She has also attended the University of Toledo. Miss Blair is currently the building sub with hopes of soon taking an L.D. position here at Rogers. When asked how the Rams of the 80's Differ from where she attended, Miss Blair respond- ed, The Rams of today are more eager to speak out for themselves than we were. Teen- agers today know more of their rights. My generation was just beginning that move- ment. It started my junior year with the girls getting the dress code changed to where we could wear slacks and the guys wearing long hair. How does she see the Rams of the future? lf they move the way the nation is going there will be more conservative students than in the past. lf that happens it's quite a way down the road. Mr. Dick Wagoner is a 1963 graduate from Rogers. He attended Bowling Green University and played professional football with the Min- nesota Vikings. Mr. Wagoner is currently teaching Health. and cites the 25th Anniversary celebration as the highlight of his teaching career. Being a former student who has many fond memories of our school, and being an active participant in this years activities, as well as viewing the involvement of our students Faculty, adminis- tration and community was over wheIming. One thing that he sites as the different be- tween rams then and now is that most of the social life and involvement was school orient- ed. He sees the future Rams as students who care about their education and possesses pride in community involvement.
