During a trying year of ball playing at Rogers, the reserve team acquired more than additional knowledge of their game. A 5-12 season gave them poise in both victory and de- feat. Under the coaching of Mr. Thomas Guit- teau, the JV gained valuable experience as newcomers to the City League. Starting the season, the JV roundballers looked good, posting wins over Sylvania, St. Johns, and Clay. After a six game losing streak, a disgusted reserve team sparkled again a- gainst Clay and edged Bowsher in a close one, but finished the sport by losing the remaining six encounters. Aggressive co-captains Jeff Brown and Jack Bucher displayed exceptional skill with ex- pert ball handling. l968 JV SCOREBOARD Rogers Sylvania Rogers St. Johns Rogers Clay Rogers Start Rogers Waite Rogers DeVilbiss Rogers Macomber Rogers Scott Rogers Central Rogers Clay Rogers Bowsher Rogers Sylvania Rogers Woodward Rogers Whitmer Rogers St. Francis Rogers Lima Senior Rogers Libbey 26 ft l Co-captain Jeff Brown made a flying leap for two points against Sylvania During a time out, Coach Guitteau demanded an improved performance for the remaining minutes ofthe game.

After starting the season' with wins dominating, the Rams faltered and didn't regain their sharp, smooth style until tournaments demanded it. As a unit, they worked well with alertness, speed and exertion. In league play, the determined roundballers finished fourth in the red division and sprang back in tournaments to slash rivals Sylvania 60-33 and Scott 68-60 before bow- ing to Libbey 56-50, for a repeat loss, in the sectional AA class finals. Spending long after school work-out hours with the varsity squad was Coach Will Collins, who stressed the boys' game eligibility on sport knowledge and team co- operation. The top seven regulars for the court action were se- niors, Roger Keys, Dave Vogelpohl, Rod Allen, Butch Hart- kopt, Mike Allison and sophomore Will Brown. Placing in the City Leagues final point averages were Vogelpohl in the top ten with l4 points and Keys compiling i2 points. alanced by close defeats rounded out the season i' -.FFA Mason, S.
