Rasmus has been with us now for five years and in this short time has seen many dreams become realities. Our high school we feel, was the greatest triumph. Mr. Rasmus has been responsible for equipping the new schools with furniture and all supplies. His job is unending in the many duties he must perform daily. The future of our educational system will be guided righteously, as we know it is in the hands of a most capable administrator. . . Board of Education In an ever changing community such as Adams, the Board of Education is faced with many new problems which cannot be left to slip by without notice. There are probably new schools in prospect for the very near future, along with the present seven schools in operation, in the Village of Adams. The Board has accomplished considerable more than should be expected and the students and parents of Adams are deeply grateful in the success of our community. CLOCKWISE AROUND TABLE: Mrs. Marguerite Sawin, Mr. Walter Brimmer, Mr. Carl J. Rasmus, Mr. John Wiley, Mr. Harold Cameron, Mr. John Blessing, Mr. Stanley Reynolds, and Mr. Bernard C. Hardy. 42 Well known around Rogers is our Principal, Mr. Fishbaugh. As a friend or as principal, he canāt be beat in the opinion of most of the students. He holds meetings, interviews new teachers, makes announcements, āpeps upā pep sessions, frowns upon ābadā boys and cries at graduation! Here too, his work is never done. Thereās always more to do and he doesnāt mind helping people with indi¬ vidual problems. Seniors can tell you this when college time ārollsā around. Mrs. Barnes Her lau2fh and smile are fa- O miliar... āGive her a typewriter, a telephone, and a problem; sheās content!ā Let the office become noisy and sheās very ādisturbed.ā Being the office secretary means real work, and thereās plenty that Mrs. Barnes does in the Rogers office. Athletic Director Vincent Contrada, Athletic Director at Rogers High School is responsible for all athletic activities that occur during the year. He sees to it that all boys are equipped with the best athletic gear, and that all of it is in ātip-topā order. He likes his job because of the wonderful coaching staff he is working with. Meet Our Deans Dean of Boys Writing late slips for stu¬ dents as Mr. Hedrick may very well be doing for Rodney Hou- chins is only one of the numer¬ ous jobs that confront him each day. āAs for a discipline problem at Rogers High, there is none...ā Dean of Girls Quiet, pleasant, and hard working. . . Her job is unending. āOn dear,ā time for Civics class and those letters werenāt sent I out. Secretary Lorraine Kolacki will take care of this. . . Mrs. Hazel will be back at the end of the period to start where she left off. Mr. ROBERT BEAN Explosions in Chemistry and complaining Fresh¬ men in General Science are old things to Mr. Bean. Sometimes he probably wishes he was back at Ohio University or Bowling Green. And we canāt forget Toledo and Cornell Universities. If you wondered who that was āperchedā atop that pole in the stadium last fall taking pictures, you know now! Mrs. DOROTHY BONASCH She says that she has no leisure time and we may well believe it with Freshman English and Civics. But when there is a spare moment or vacation thereās a fishing trip or swimming in store for her. If she can find an interesting book, thatāll do. University of Toledo and the University of Flor¬ ida were where she studied. Mrs. BETTY BUCHHOLZ Traveling, all sorts of crafts and flowers, either in growing or arranging will fill her leisure time sparingly. As for what universities are the most famous, sheāll tell you! Why, theyāre Capital and Miami University. Good future homemakers is her goal. Mr. MYRON CARMAN āLook out for that tree! CRASH! How Mr. Carman stands up 4gainnOjje strain weāll never kno Hcr ' Wes pull himself duri ng ni caMj ugaxfifi ' aa or reads a good book. %Ā«ELIFD SPA F THE APE) B the way, neās a i4, oledo. (Our Faculty) Mr. JACK CHAPIN āThe swankiest!ā Lots of luck with your Public Speaking, Dramatics and English. Only kidding; those are his subjects here at Rogers. When play time comes up, heā the busiest. It was a āwunner- fulā year with the trip to Bowling Green and Toledo University. By the way if you havenāt heard, he attended Bowling Green. Miss POLLY JO COLLINS āCan you imagine her playing tennis and read¬ ing a book all the same time?ā Sure! The Uni¬ versity of Toledo was her favorite Alma Mater and shorthand and typing are her Business courses here at Rogers. Mr. VINCENT CONTRADA Not so long ago he attended the College of Wil¬ liam and Mary, George Washington University, and the University of Toledo. Along with being Athletic Director, he has two classes, World His¬ tory and Physiology. The lecture we used to get on āhair.ā Mrs. HELEN CRAIG Teaching English is her work, and golf, bridge and playing the Hammond organ are her favorite pastimes. Before her teaching career began, she attended Ohio State University and George Washington University. Mr. DON E. TON āIf I told you once, Iāve told you a million times not to mix the yellow and purple paint!ā This might be a typical exclamation if you had Mr. Eaton in art class. Sports and art were his main interests when he attended Bowling Green Uni¬ versity and they still are. Mr. RAYMOND EDWARDS For the smarter of the crop he has Algebra, Plain and Solid Geometry, and for a snap course thereās always Trigonometry. A sports-minded man, he is from Bowling Green University, Purdue Univer¬ sity, and Miami University. Mr. DUANE FENDER He has no complaints in Driverās Training, but then why should he with the ā58 Ford we have. Biology students know well his tests that spring up every once in a while. All sports and Jimmy and Peggy take up his leisure time at home. Mrs. JACQUELINE FREED Swimming and canoeing are among Mrs. Freedās favorite sports during the summer. Since gradua¬ tion from the University of Toledo, she taught Bookkeeping and English. She left us in February to join her husband in Alexandria, Virginia. 46 Mr. JOHN HASTY In General Science and Algebra I, heās an expert; his students will vouch for that. Milligan College, Tennessee, the University of Pittsburgh and Lincoln Bible Institute, Illinois were chosen for his schools. A little flying and a little photography will do for that ārareā leisure time. Mr. THOMAS HAYDOCK As far as colleges go Central Michigan, Ohio State and Toledo University canāt be beat. For Basic Math and Advanced Woodworking, Mr. Haydockās the one who knows. As for hobbies, we couldnāt name; heās married, so I suppose there isnāt time for them. āGive this man a ham¬ mer, a student, and a Math book, and heāll be content. , Miss CAROLYN JOHNSON āLa profesora de la clase de espanol es la senorita Johnson. Everyone knows her and likes her. Noth¬ ing can beat a swim or a little golfing and in the evening a good book sounds enjoyable. She re¬ ceived her diploma from Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois, near Chicago, and the Outer Drive, (memories) .. . Mr. ROBERT KRITZER A Michigan State graduate, who enjoys teaching at Rogers. Sports, especially football, we think, is his favorite pastime or enjoyment. Weāve heard that his name is āMr. Chrysler,ā not Mr. Kritzer! (Remember). Well lotās of luck to your Freshmen and Juniors in Civics and American History. (āHere kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty!ā) Mr. CLEO LADD A major in Industrial Arts at Indiana and Ohio Northern Universities. Very fortunate in teaching a subject he enjoys; that of woodworking for advanced students and auto mechanics. āSmall, yet mighty, and very quiet.ā Mr. JOSEPH LUCAS A home town boy not ātoo long agoā from Toledo University, he is now a Biology instructor at Rogers. He likes to hunt and fish, and baseball is good for a little relaxationā-āas a spectator only!ā | i Mr. RAYMOND LUSHER He introduced two new electives at Rogers this year, that of printing and photography, and they seem to be quite popular as is Mr. Lusher who enjoys teaching. He attended Bowling Green State University and his hobbies are, of course, photography and the āmadnessā of electronics. Mr. FREDERICK MARLO All āBoneheadsā know that he teaches English, Journalism and Publications, but few know that he attended Ohio State, and Ohio Northern Uni¬ versity. When Mr. Mario isnāt teaching, you might find him fishing or reading, ā. . . fishing usually!ā Miss M. RGARET MILLER Miss Miller attended Oxford College, Ohio, Middlebury College, Vermont, and Northwestern in Illinois, and had additional study at Western Reserve and Ohio State. Her educational climax was her entrance in Diplome La Sorbonne, Paris, France. Itās no wonder travel, music, and read¬ ing are spent well in leisure. Mr. LESTER MINNEMAN Physics and Algebra I and II students are famil¬ iar with Mr. Minneman and his ālittle ' ā quizzes he springs every once in a while. A graduate of Capital University, he enjoys fixing and refinish¬ ing old furnitureājust as a hobby! Mr. CLIFFORD MYERS Fishing, hunting, and reading, he likes them all. How time is found in his very busy schedule to do anything of this sort is beyond our calculations. The band has progressed a great deal from even last season; and the credit goes to both the direc¬ tor and to the fine musicians in the band. Ohio State University, Rio Grande College, and Morris Harvey College are his āold home stamping grounds.ā Mrs. VELMA PFEIFFER Before she started teaching business courses and Typing II, she attended Indiana University, Bowling Green State University, and Ohio State. Working with young people and their organiza¬ tions here at Rogers is what she enjoys doing most. CHRISTINE RISWOLD Chorus teacher. She attended Bowl¬ ing Green State University and Uni¬ versity of Michigan. She also studied at Arizona State. She likes to golf and swim; likes stageshows and musicals. ROBERT RITTICHIER He teaches American government, his¬ tory, and civics. His alma maters are Miami University and Toledo Uni¬ versity. His leisure time is spent in playing records and fishing. JOSEPHINE SPARKS Junior and Senior English are her favorites. Her college days were spent at Ohio State and Columbia Univers¬ ity. Her hobbies go in many direc¬ tions. She loves to travel, take pic¬ tures, read books, and see plays. HAROLD TITTLE Business Arithmetic, General Business, Economical Geography and Sales manship, and Senior Basic Business are his courses. He attended Davis Business College and University of Toledo, and enjoys traveling. MILDRED VanFLEET Latin and English. College of Woos¬ ter is her alma mater, and she also studied at the College of William and Mary. Her leisure time is spent read¬ ing, and she likes to dance. Sports is a favorite too and she enjoys cooking. RUSSELL WEST āHeās our librarian.ā He attended York Jr. College, Ohio University, University of Wisconsin, and Western Reserve. After stumbling our way around last year as freshmen, going into the wrong classrooms on the wrong floor, we feel at last we have learned our way around and have now begun to know our school quite well. Latin The purpose of the Rogers Chapter of the Junior Classical League is three-fold: 1. To augment the study of Latin as a basic language in the formation and significance of words used in speaking, reading and writing English. 2. To insure an understanding of Roman civilization and its influence upon world thinking, achievement in literature, art, religion and Red Cross Club Club government. 3. It means practice every night after school; seeing other students blast off for parts unknown, while the team sticks to the task at handālearning football. Guided by Coach Fen¬ der, this yearās squad played hardāhard enough to end the season in first place, on top of the heap of GLL reserve teams. While earning the championship in reserve play, this group of boys accomplished another goal. That of gaining the know-how which makes Varsity players. Second Place GLL Victors Rogersā Varsity Basketball Squadāa group of boys who thought of victory before and laurels later; a group of boys who played terrific roundball; and a group of boys who made people in the area realize that Rogers is definitely on its way to the top. This yearās team scored three times the number of wins scored last year. The squad opened its season by scoring a four game winning streak, the longest in our history. By the law of averages they lost occasionally too, but never without showing the spirit that kept Rogers in top contention for the GLL Championship until late in the season. Of special interest to Rogersā fans is the fact that never did Rogers play a one man game. When Coach Schultz placed five boys on the floor, fans saw five boys cooperating for a common causeāplayers working to¬ gether for the satisfaction of a team victory.
