Do Clothes Make The tWoyMan? Clothes, although they may be just an exterior covering to the person. and cannot physically look inside his personality. generally do say something about their possessor. The different styles of clothes range almost as much as the differing personalities of those who wear them. Many times clothing reflects what the person would like to be. but cannot. Some of the more popular styles include Preppy. llDesigner Queen, and the Nature Lover gone Westerner. The Hprep lPreppyt: Generally thought of as a conceited, stuck-up. spoiled brat. the Prep is often quite misunderstood. Just because he lives solely for the next edition of the LL. Bean catalog. turns his nose up at anyone who doesnlt understand squash and field hockey, and calls his parents by Mummy and Daddy. doesn't mean his priorities or moral values are in the wrong place. Just because he looks down upon anyone who doesnlt own, or at least have access to, a dozen IZOD's, ignores those whose names are not of the class as Buffy and Bitsy, and is totally ngossed out by those who don't read the Official Preppy Handbook faithfully, does not mean that he is not a nice person. The HDesigner Queen everyone knows is the girl who has Hgot the look you want to know better. She has twelve pairs of jeans, all designer. To her, Levi Strauss is a German physicist. She wears her jeans tight, her heels high, her necklines low, and her makeup heavy. Because of her plastic appearance, she has often been mistaken for a store manniquin. Her hair is either long and perfectly feathered all the way around. or it is short and meticulously styled every morning with a small fleet of hair dryers. curling irons and hair sprays. The llNature Lover Gone Westerner : This person is commonly found decked out in your average cowboy gear: worn blue jeans, western or flannel shirt, a leather vest, and, of course, cowboy hat and boots. He imagines himself in a llChaps commercial, coming in off the dusty trail from Hroping doggies, to his luxuriously furnished bachelor pad. He emerges from a steamy shower to be enveloped by a lush chocolate brown bath towel. He generously splashes on half a bottle of Brut attershave. Changing from his Pierre Cardin robe to his Jordache jeans, he strategically places his leather cowboy hat on his pampered the uses Vidal Sasson hair productst yet rugged looking hair. After taking one last quick glance to one of his many mirrors, to assure that every hair is in place, he swiftly struts to his Porsche and speeds away to meet a tall, dark- eyed enchantress. Whether it is the Preppy, the Designer Queen. or the Western stud. most people find the clothes do help make the man. Sporting his Jordache jeans, Steve Kring rests on the bumper of his twishful thinkingt Datsun 280 Z. Tim Pritchett cracks a smile with a but-these- are-my-everyday-clothes looks 20 Student Lila
