Weire after the big bucks! Do you know how long live been pro- gramming director for this network? DonTt answer that, 1th been too long. I know you're new here, so Pm going to give you some pointers. The key phrase is rating points. YouTve got to grab the viewer by the eyeballs and drag him in. Remember, hes not as sophisticated as you and I, so you've got to make it simple for him. There are two basic methods of at- tracting his attention. The first consists of guaging the public interest and pla- giarizing. If other networks are doing well with westerns, run westerns. The same goes for doctor shows, police shows,anything you care to mention. The second is the traditional iTPlay on the viewers naturally base instincts, method of operation. Sex and violence sell big, Although violence is on the down-swing, sex is bigger than ever. When you think about it, thereTs a lot more to work with in the sex field: thereis the sex comedy, the sex drama, the violent scenes, all at your disposal. Remember, son, we're in the enter- tainment business, not the enlighten- ment business, not the the enrichment business, but the entertainment busi- ness. So go out there and sell that deter- gent!

Give them disaster movies, war movies, murders, beatings, rapes. They love it. Sex is out. If you get an X rating slapped on you, profits plummet, and youlve lost all your award potential.
