We got it? iIYea, theyire ok once in a while, but therels got to be more to life than sports? liMore to life than sports? Whats wrong with you? Are you some kind of Communist or something? Sports build character and team spirit. They are the cure-all for mind, body and soul! Think of the great American tradition of com- petition! You owe it to this country to love sports! Love it or leave it . . . Vi iiJoel Let go of my throatlii Ii. . . Oh, I . . . Iim sorry. I donit know what came over me. I just lost control for a min- utefi uGet a grip on yourself. Dawn Malwin begins her reign as Homecoming Quccn. Contestants Charlotte Free, Debbie Connolly. Chris Palmer. Dawn Malwin, and Alminu Frcc wait anxiously for the winner to be announced. Friday the thirteenth-day of black cats, broken mirrors, and home- comings? Yes, itis true. While most people were jumping over cracks in sidewalks and tearing up their knuckles knocking on wood, we at Rogers were preparing for our major football game of the year. ttWe were doomed from the start, commented Senior Debbie Granzo. til donit think anybody was too suprised that we lost 0-13. If the game had been on any other day, we probably would have won? School spirit may certainly have been dampened by superstition, but can we really attribute the whole atmosphere of apathy that surrounded homecoming x to bad luck? uI think more people came to see the antique cars and queen candidates than the game itselffi stated Senior Ann Holbrook. uThe only time the students seemed to notice what was going on was when Queen Dawn Malwin fell off the platformfi Are Rogers students growing tired of traditions such as homecoming, or does our indifferent attitude towards school activities reflect a general feeling of apathy towards life? ttl think students are beginning to re- alize that school traditions dontt have much to do with the real world,w ex- plained Senior Lisa Vernon. tiSchool spirit is okay, but I think people are saving their enthusiasm for more im- portant areas of life?
