WEATHER: That wind just blows my mind There is, indeed, another unique fac- et of Rogers High School e one that is far too often overlooked and unnoticed. We have weather. We donlt know what the weather will be, or whether the weather will be, or will the weather wither when winter winds wind up on white walls, whether or not the weather has whitened them from winter winds. 1 couldnlt even tell you what the weather will be, who the weather will be, when the weather will be there, whether the weather is there or not. lll've never really noticed it before? stated Senior Cindy Berg. llBut, wow, itls really truelll Another student, unnamed when asked if held noticed in the past that Rogers had weather simply gave an irri- tated look and shuffled off. But, itls true. We have a tremendous variety of types of weather in the Michigan City area, everything from eye-dazzlinl rains to sensual, sultry hu- midity. It is a vital local resource, a special feather in the cap, whose impor- tance in developing both recreational activities for residents, and out tourism trade is just being realized. No longer can the cry actually be, ttTherc's nothing to do? when kids and adults alike can stand in cold rains, slide on ice, lie down and sweat in sum- mer sun, and shiver from breezes off Lake Michigan. Sports build character and team spirit. They are the cure-all for mind, body and soul! Think of the great American tradition of com- petition! You owe it to this country to love sports! Love it or leave it . . . Vi iiJoel Let go of my throatlii Ii. . . Oh, I . . . Iim sorry. I donit know what came over me. I just lost control for a min- utefi uGet a grip on yourself. Not every- one is a sports nut, and even if you are, thereis got to be something else just for the sake of varityfi iiWell, maybe. But it still sounds radical to me.
