Kirksey in appreciative recognition of his service in raising the standards of our school, of his tireless energy in serving every member of it, and of his interest in the progress of its students, we dedicate this volume of the Mountaineer , W uperintemlent' Message We are very happy to have lived for several years in the Ozark region in Arkansas, where there are four distinct seasons. Summer, autumn, winter, and spring. Where the summer is iust hot enough to make us enioy the beautiful fall revue and where the winter is just cold enough to make us appreciate the won- derful Ozark spring. ln these valleys and on these mountains and plateaus, we have found people from every state in the Union. People who are industrious, frank and friendly. During our stay here we have worked with a splendid school board in a school system that has a friendly atmosphere. Where the students accept new students for what they are and not for what their ancestors might have beeng where cliques and clans are almost non-existent, where faculty members are loyal and easy to meet: where students consider the faculty members as their friends and advisors. This large student body is a compliment to the school and the community. l regret that l do not know each individual better. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve with you this year. The sponsors and staff are to be complimented on their splendid attempt to record in this Mountaineer, the history of your high school for the year 1951-52. Sincerely Yours, B. L. KIRKSEY S lu' 'su JOE FAY MOORE PrinoipaI's Message My sincere desire is that you, as students of Rogers High School, have grown in spirit- ual, moral, and social stature as well as edu- cational development during the past year. I hope this school year has been as plea- sant for you as it has been For me in working with you. Principal BOARD OF EDUCATION J. O. RAND, JR .... ................... ..... P r esident R. L. K r LEONA BAKER By Judy Tuel She was just a little girl, The girl who slipped away, She was here with us one day The next she went to stay Where we all shall go some day, When the angel comes our way. She wore her hair in yellow braids, The girl who slipped away, Her eyes were blue as any maid's, Her smile was like the sun's first ray As it rose to greet each day, The girl who slipped away. And though we'll not see her again This girl who slipped away, We know that she has done her share Anal we will all remember her As a friend we can not see, The girl who slipped away.
