Marchers Dazzle at Halftime The Rogers High School Concert and Marching Band, under the direction of Mr. ]on VandenBroek, began their year at Michigan State University. Following this, the Marching Band held some excellent performances during half-time at the football games. During the; Christmas sea- son, the concert band played in downtown Grand Rapids, ,ind also performed at Rogers Department Store. The band raised money for their trip to Great America in May by having a paper drive. In addition, the band also sponsored the seventh Annual Western Michigan Jazz Festival. Hoy! Concert Choir Has Busy Year This year ' s Concert Choir, as well as studying vocal technique and learning to read music, performed magnificently in several concerts and took a trip to Kalamazoo to see the The Wiz . In addition to their annual concerts and mini-concerts, he Concert Choir attended the Southwestern Michigan Vocal Festi- val where two members, Darlene Yarrington and Hank VanRanden, were chosen to sing in a special 100- voice choir. Girls ' Quintet Arrives With a Fresh New Sound The Girls ' Quintet consisted of five girls — Val Brix, Brenda Horan, Carl Peterson, Jerre Smith, and Darlene Yarrington — practicing Monday nights after school. In addition to singing at all the choir concerts, the ensemble had an interesting year performing at the Westbrook Nurs- ing Home and at a Kiwanis Club Luncheon. Kim at the keys. Girls ' Quintet

Jazz Band Performs On Tour The Jazz Band performed at vari- ous places throughout the year, which included playing at all the home basketball games, all pep assemblies, and at Rogers Plaza. They also played at the Savory Street Restaurant and the West Michigan High School Jazz Festival.
