Varsity Team Finishes Best Season The 1978-79 Varsity Basketball Team, under the coaching of Mr. Hudson, played the best season in the history of Rogers with 21 wins and 4 losses. Leading the mighty Hawks were All Conference winners Doug Chappell, Kurt Spinks, and Andy Vavere. In addition Doug, this year ' s Most Valuable Player, received state recognition including Detroit Free Press First Team All- State and UPI First Team All-State. Different Strokes Beat Different Folks The 1978-79 Swim Team took 5th place in the tough O.K. Red Confer- ence. Finishing strongest in the free style relay were Jim Erickson, Bob Erickson, Mike Yasick, and Kevin Kribbet. Also, Mike Yasick broke the school record in the 500 yard frees- tyle, and Kevin Kribbet scored the most points in the season. The team elected captains Kevin Kribbet and Jim Erickson, who helped their coach Mr. Katt and his assistant, Mrs. Zyskowski. Flying High Determination!
