Putnam High School was our “answer.” During our career at Putnam, we have learned many skills and put them to use through our co-op experiences. We have also discovered through our training, the importance of co-operation with our co- worker. We have learned to be responsible employees and respectable human beings. We have become reliable citizens in a growing community. In short we have grown and matured. Putnam with its instruc- tors and facilities, has made us men and women. We are now at the end of our careers at Putnam, but are beginning the road to a new life experience. We are ready to face that challenge and will do so successfully. My wish for you, fellow classmates, is a life full of happiness. Remember your goals and do not stop until you have reached them. Even in times of crisis, remember the inner strength with which we are all endowed. Be tactful and courteous to all you encounter. These are the elements of success. Good Luck to each of you. Two of the members, both seniors, received outstanding achievement awards. Robert Bushey, son of Mrs. Dorothy Bushey of 36 Roosevelt Ave., Chicopee, Mass. has been studying electronics. He was awarded a plaque for four consecutive years of scholarship. Robert plans to enter the Air Force in July. Deverna Williams, daughter of Mrs. Sarah E. Williams, of 17 Marlborough St., Springfield, has been studying cosmetology. She was presented a scholarship check of $100. Deverna has been accepted at STCC and will be studying Data Processing. The Honor Society under the advisorship of Mrs. Evelyn Grace is a self supported club. They have sponsored various fund raisers including a candy and bake sales to provide money for all their awards, including the Scholarship Fund, their luncheon and a donation to the St. Jude Crippled Children’s Hospital. The officers: Tina Boissonnault, president; Todd Nashville, vice-president; Bridget Pollard, secretary; and Robert Bushey, treasurer, have worked diligently to keep the standards of our membership high and they welcome new members into the Honor Society. We also thank Mr. Bradway and his Commercial Art department for designing the cover and the art work. There certainly wouldn’t be a yearbook without pictures and the staff expresses gratitude to Ju- niors Charles Proctor and James McKenzie. Their photographic coverage of many events supple- mented the work done by Grenier Studios. We thank the advertisers who placed ads with us and appreciate their financial help. Thanks also to Mr. Kwajewski’s science seniors for the laying out and making up the pages of this year’s book. The staff and everyone at Putnam expresses re- grets that the teacher job action caused the can- cellation of the Senior Picnic and Class Day.
