I1lT-vt Queen julie Conway, Sr, King Andy Door, $11 Queen Patti Olberding, It. 1985 Homecoming For the first time in the history of Roger Bacon High School, Homecoming Kings and Queens graced the football held at the Homecoming game. Besides having the Alumni Bash. this year the school also had a dance, Spirit T-shirt Days, a poster contest, a pep assembly and a Spirit Walk for the students Spirit Week began on Tuesday with a t-shirt day. Students from all grades walked the halls disPIaying their SpirEt by wearing 3 Roger Bacon t-shirt. The Homecoming Kings and Queens were also announced on Tuesday. The Homcu coming King and Queen for the seniors are Andy Dorr and Julie Conway. The Homecom- ing King and Queen for the juniors ate Patti Olberding and Pat Greene. The Homecoming King and Queen For the sophomores are Kelly Colson and Kenneth Carter. The Homecoming King and Queen for the freshmen are Amy Goefft and Carlos Jusino. On Thursday the Spirit Walk took place. The main theme 0fthe walk was Step Forward with Spartan Pride. The students and several of the teachers walked a total of10 kilometers A few faculty members rode the Pooped-Out Pick Up cars for those who couldn't Fmish the Walk. Upon returning to Bacon. free pop was distrib- ZOXHomecoming uted to the students as they finished the Walk. Over $25,000 was raised from the Walk, and all the proceeds will be used in the building of the new activity center. Friday was another t-shirt day, and in the after- noon Bacon's first pep tally of the year was helti. Students playing fall Sports were intro. duced, followed by a humorous skit portraying Spartan wrestlers defeating Lancer opponents. In the skit. freshman Tom Brooks changed into the Hulk :0 help his Spartan partner, Father jim, defeat jack Hut: and senior Dan Floyd. Sophomore Derek Chapman served as the refer- ee while jim Rice assisted in the ring as MC. The Spartan band played several numbers, giv. ing the assembly an added musical boost. That evening the Spartans took on their Homecom- ing rivals. the LaSalle Lancers. Pre-game activi- ties consisted of the parade for the Homecom- ing Kings and Queenst Following that, the my- alty of each class was crowned, The Spartans were defeated by the Lancers by a score of 38-7, the one touchdown being scored by Andy Dorr. After the game 1 Homecoming Dance was held from 11 pm. e 1 a.m, at the Greenhills Legion Hall. The dance, Sponsored by Mrs. McKinney and the Dance Committee, was well attended by all classest The music was provided by Q102 disc jockey, Bobbi Maxwell. The dance turned out to be a spirited way to end a spirited week, Thanks to everyone Faculty and students, who helped make Homecoming Week 1983. a memorable occasion! Queen Kelly Colson, Soph.
