DEDICATION: Steve and Ed Mr. Steve Schneider Most of us take a lot of things for granted. When we arrive at school in the morning, we take it for granted that the lights will be On and the doors unlocked. In the winter we take it for granted that the heat will be on; and if therels snow on the ground. we take it for granted that a path will be shoveled. In class we take it for granted that the clocks work and that the bells will ring. But none of this just happens. and from time to time it's only right that we give credit to the many people who make these things happen. This year the Troubadour would like to honor two of these people - Mr. Steve Schneider and Mn Ed Albrinck. Combined they have given over fifty-nine years of service to the school; Steve came to Roger Bacon in I948. Ed in l959. Their work involves a lot more than sweeping up after school. Steve Schneider is in charge of maintenance and engineering for Roger Bacon. This means he maintains and operates the boiler that supplies heat for the building and the pipes and radiators that carry the heat. He performs any needed electrical work, and he personally designed and installed the clock system throughout the building. as well as the wiring for the school television network. He does repair work of all kinds e from fixing desks to making plumbing repairs on pipes as old as the building. This work saves the school thousands of dollars by eliminating the necessity of bringing in Outside contractors. Outside, Steve supervises grounds maintenance and prepares athletic fields for competition. Fr. Sylvester notes, Steve would be very hard to replace. He can do so many things and has so many talents that it w0uld be hard to find any one individual of his calibre. Ed Albrinck performs and supervises custodial and janitorial work throughOut the building. including the office, the gym, and the bathrooms. Ed arrives early in the morning to get the build- ing ready for teachers and students. In the Summer Mr. Albrinck supervises a general and thorough cleaning of every corner of the building. As if all this isnlt enough. Ed, along with Steve. may be found at Roger Bacon in the evening bartending, locking doors. and cleaning up after various activities. At least one of them must be here for every meeting. game, play, or dance held in the building. Both Mr. Schneider and Mr. Albrinck work hard for Roger Bacon and show a sincere interest in the work they do and in the entire school itself. Their work is highly respected by the faculty and the administration. In the words of Fr. Sylvester. The most consistent cemment abOut the school from visitors is that Roger Bacon has the cleanest. best-kept building in the city. For all of this, credit is long overdue to Mr. Steve Schneider and Mr. Albrinck, ln gratitude to them, the yearbook staff is proud to dedicate the 1983 Troubadour to the men behind the scenes at Roger Bacon.
