04,0 N 'ii One quality stands out above all others when we consider the years of service given to Roger Bacon by Fr. John Bok. That quality is dedication - dedication to religion, dedication to teaching, and, combining the two, dedication to Roger Bacon High School. Throughout his life, Fr. John has given himself totally to Roger Bacon. He graduated from Bacon in 1953 and then returned as a science teacher in 1963 following his ordination as a Franciscan priest. He has served not only as teacher but also as Dean and, since 1972, as principal of his alma mater. Teaching has remained his first love, but in addition he has molded Roger Bacon into a high school we can all be proud of. Parents know that under Fr. John's supervi- sion their sons will not only become well-educated but will graduate as sound Christian men with a strong sense of morality and of discipline. For these parents the financial sacrifice involved in giving their sons a Bacon education is money well-spent. Yet Fr. John has always strived to keep the cost of a Bacon education as low as possible while keeping Roger Bacon's standards high. Although Fr. John has made discipline a very important part of education at Roger Bacon, he has remained fair, earning the respect of faculty, students, and parents. Because of Fr. John's leadership and dedication, Roger Bacon has survived a decade of economic and moral instability and has main- tained an atmosphere of quality Catholic education. Because of his efforts, Roger Bacon still shines out as a symbol of education, discipline, and Christian ideas. Therefore, the yearbook staff is proud to dedicate the 1981 Troubadour to Fr. John P. Bok, who has dedicated his life to Roger Bacon High School. DEDICATICN: Fr. John Bok, O.F.M
