I am very happy that the Troubadour staff has dedicated the I972 yearbook to Coach Bacevich. He has increased the fame of Roger Bacon High School immensely. He has influ- enced the lives of hundreds ofyoung men that have been priv- ileged to play for him. Finally, Coach Bacevich has been the guiding force in my life along with my parents. Coach Baeevich changed my life in two ways. The first was his willingness to work 7 to pay the price for success. The second was by his devotion and dedication to God, The sign of a good leader is if he leads by example. Coach Bacevich does this. He works hard for his football success, and he expects each of his players to work as hard as he does. I can remember him pushing us to near exhaustion trying to instill in us the pride of 21 Roger Bacon team. I remember him saying that in short yardage situations you have to dare your opponents to run at your position. And, when you have the ball, you have to dare them to stop you short. At the time, I believed in Coach Bacevich so much that when short yardage situations developed in the games, I would look my opponent in the eye and dare him to stop my block. This confidence a this I dare you to stop me attitude 7 is what Coach Bacevich has made synonymous with Roger Bacon football. This brings me to the second intIuence Coach Bacevich had on my life. This was his devotion and dedication to God. This never really affected me while I was at Roger Bacon. Reli- gion was too easy there. However, when I went away to col- lege, religion became Optional. It was then that I found that success in sports. school. and life is proportional to your de- votion to God. These are the emotional influences that Coach Baeevich had on my life, but there is more to be said. He is the best coach I have had. He is a great teacher, tactician, technician. and organizer. He consistently wins games with only a minie mum amount of assistant coaches. The techniques that he teaches at Roger Bacon are identical to those taught at Ohio State and the New York Jets. Thus, his coaching has affect- ed my football career, and, at present, his coaching is affect- ing my income. In closing, I will simply say that the coach has changed my life For the better. I only hope that he is still at Roger Bacon when my son is old enough to go there, so that my boys life may be moldea by the greatest man I know, Bron Bacevich. J44??? Class
