The practi- cal value of these business courses is easily seen. The art course, however, is different because the practical uses of this course are limited. This course is designed to in- crease the Spartan's appreciation of all beauty. All of these courses com- plement each other in the transformation of the stu- dent to a mature adult. In addition to its fine per - formances during football season, the Band was featured at the Xavier Uni- 5 versity Catholic Music Festival as Well as our own Music-Art Festival. In addition to these performances the Spartan Band gave concerts at a num- ber of the girls' high schools in the DI area. ALTER, D.D., LL.D., ARCH- BISHOP OF CINCINNATI THE MOST REVEREND SYLVAN BECKER, O.F .M. , PROVINCIAL OF SAINT JOHN BAPTIST PROVINCE FATHER ANDREW FOX, O.F.M. As Father Andrew departs from Roger Bacon High. School the Faculty and Stu- dents extend to him their best wishes. For twenty-two years Father Andrew has devoted himself unsparingly to the task of forming Christian men from the boys who came to Roger Bacon. Nothing was ever too much for Father Andrew to do for his students . We earnestly hope that the total dedication of our principal to the cause of Christian edu- cation will continue to inspire us in the future . FATHER ERMIN WERLE, O.F.M. On his twenty-fifth anniversary as a Franciscan priest, the Faculty and Stu- dent Body of Roger Bacon High School congratulate Father Ermin. An efficient vice-principal, a dedicated teacher, an excellent drama moderator, and a trustworthy friend , . . this is Father Ermin. With a deep spirit of gratitude, we sincerely thank Father Ermin for twenty-four years of service to the stu- dents of Roger Bacon. We earnestly pray that the ideals which Father Ermin has instilled in us will remain and grow in us. FATHER LAURIAN RAUSCH, O. F .M. Thirteen years ago a young Franciscan came to Roger Bacon to teach mathe- matics. In a very short time, students realized that they were fortunate indeed in having this person for their teacher. Intellectually orientated and spiritually motivated, Father Laurian, we are proud to say, has been appointed the new principal of our school. We wel- come Father Laurian and we are grate- ful for his commitment to serve and guide the students of Roger Bacon High School. 95 Mr. Edward J. Armbruster, B.S. Besides represent:i.ng the students, the Senate fosters warranted student ac- tivities. This year the Senate sponsored the Christmas Semi-formal and the Spring Prom. The money received from the paper drives and car wash, which were sponsored by the Senate, was used to establish a scholarship to Roger Bacon for a Worthy eighth grade boy. Charles F. Ralph C.
