' SW The Public Library of Cincinnati Et Hamilton County The Gift of Roger Bacon High School A Pictorial Review of School Events Published by the Seniors of Roger Bacon High School I96l - I962 The Troubadour DEDICATION Often school is considered as an institution of students and teachers alone. With eFfort we think of the cafeteria personnel, secretaries and maintenance men. Certainly, the students must be fed, records kept, and the building cleaned and repaired. Despite the obscurity of their work, these men and women are noted for their patience and long-suFFering. To the maintenance men, the secretaries, the cafeteria personnel and especially to Miss Rita Juengling we dedi- cate this Annual. For over twenty-five years she has with- stood the annoyance of milk and coke bottles crushing to the floor, of coins dropped in food cartons. As cashier she has seen long lines of Bacon students pass by to purchase a sandwich, eat and rush out. Aloud Miss Juengling rapidly adds and subtracts each purchase. Amid this intense activity no one can work with numbers silently. We hope that the students and graduates of Roger Bacon pause and thank God for giving us so devoted a worker as Miss Rita Juengling. The Spor- fans made every stop a winning one, leading 16-8 of quarter, 32-23 at half, and 52437 of the end of the third period. Don Ernst scored 15 points to lead a balanced attack which found two Spartans in double figures, three with nine, and one with eight. Coach Connor explains some of the finer poinis of the game. Mothers' Night 130 131 Spartans Finish Season Strong The basketball season began with the ob- iectives of winning the GCL and the New- port Catholic Tournament. In spite of the fact that their efforts tailed, there were still a few bright spots even in a 4-14 season. These were the promising individual performances which indicate that next season's team may achieve the success which eluded this year's team. Also the strong showing in the final games proved the real strength of our basketball team. .550 .h Jon 4 6.288 35.3 .z .23 .h gig: d 262 .an :25 .u 6mg 5:22 .m 693 :30: .h 695 riom .Q .n:mmc1mo .2 $501 40cm PEEW .v. cwcwhumu .-. 9.052 .n- iuov. .n. 6UEE:03 ,2 HBOM g: jdihmxmzxm ?:meS 132 RESERVE BASKETBALL WV 3: en 3 3: .3 iv 3 The Record Reserves Roger Bacon Opponents 32 .................... Record of l5.l in High Hurdles In spite of the fact that Roger Bacon had won the G.C.L. track champion- ship every year since 1955, this year's meet was in doubt until the final points were scored. Only by a narrow margin of 3V2 points did Roger Bacon edge crchrivul Purcell. Bacon made it seven years in a row by scoring 80 points to 76V2 for Purcell to 47 for St. Xavier, to 23V2 for Elder. McNicholas failed to score a point. Even though the point spread was narrow, the victory was significant because of Purcell's great strength. 141 Fr. Alan directs the GCl. Freshman Truck Meef.
