THE ROLE OF THE RED SLEEVE To +he +op of a green hill overlooking +he +ournamen+ ground slumbled a knighl' wounded unlo dea+h. From sheer exhausl'ion he 'Fell as ho affempl'ecl +0 moun+ +he sieps of a near-by chapel. And when his panoply slruck +he marble approach. a sound spli+ +he air like +he healing of a l'housand cymbals in +he mellow hush of +he dawn. Momen- +arily he paused. numb. Then slowly propping his head on his elbow. he gazed a+ +he +a++ered bif of red clo+h which he wore on his arm. H was a +oken given lo him by his lady love +ha+ he mighl' remember her when duly called him far away. Offen +his red sleeve had inspired in him loving fhoughls of her and of her rapfurous fea'rures. Even as his sl'rengl'h was ebbing and he lay l'here forlorn. he seemed lo find joy again in pic+uring her affec'riona're charms before him.
