No Roe Jan student who has studied history under Mr. George Col- clough will ever forget this, Mr. Colclough's favor- ite statement, Since 1934 he has taught classes at Roe Jan. Even before that Mr, Colclough helped to construct this very building duringhis summer vacation. In history classes he has brought us through the ages from the conquest of Rome to the present day. In full charge of the Little Theatre, Mr.Colclough supervises the projection staffwhich orders and shows films. THROUGH THE One of the most memorable events of any school year is the senior play, This year's play, Seventeenth Summer, under the able direction of Mr, Williams, was the story of a young girl, Angie Morrow, and all the joys and sorrows of her seventeenth summer, It all starts when she meets lack, the center of the basketball team, and who, she thinks, is just the greatest ever. To complicate things for her is Jane, who, once she knows what she wants, goes after it and makes it pretty obvious that what she wants is Jack. There is Iane's best friend, gossipy Margie, and to add to the confusion, Tony, the wolf, and Fitz, Margie's steady, Looking on at all ofthis is Angie's family, herkind and understanding mother, her bewildered father, who can never seem to find anything, her impish little sister, Kitty, and her two older sisters, Margaret, loving and advice-giving, and Lorraine, a would- be sophisticate, who just can't seem tohold her man. DRAMA CLUB The members of the Drama Club, mostly from the seventh and eighth grades, read plays, Mr, Klein is the director of these future 'John Barrymores, LIBRARY CLUB In Miss Nichol s Library Club which meets every sixth period the members learn how to place books on the shelves properly and keep the card catalogue up to date A R E F U XX BIRD BANDING CLUB The purpose of the Bird Banding Club is to acquaint students with the proper care, han- dling, and feeding of birds. Under the guid- ance of Mr. Rodda the students assist the govern- ment in banding birds for tracing purposes. CONSERVATION CLUB A very active group is Mr. Stevens' Con- servation Club whose members have prepared and sampled many types of wild life, They have established a Hunter Safety Program and heard several guest speakers, RHYTHM BAND Mr. Osborn's Rhythm Band helps students to become acquainted with Dance Orchestra work and provides music for dancing after basketball games.
