U15 Days of lfrfre When we stop to thrnk about rt ll s hard to belreve that we are senrors I seems only a lrttle whrle ago that we were tn frrst grade where we met the thrrty f1VC senrors who are strll here We had brg dorngs ln the grades wrth assemblres and Chrrstmas operettas However the bxggest event of all was when we recerved our dlploma at srxth grade graduatlon takrng us from the grades rnto Iuntor Hrg It seemed a new world was created once we entered Iumor Hrgh We were allowed to partrclpate rn clubs student councrl and many other act1v1t1es After that frrst mrxed up week we frnally learned the darly program and elected homeroom offrcers Durrng our freshman year Joan LaPorte was elected treasurer of Student Councrl In the Junror Hrgh prrze speakrng contest Mark Squrres and Ioan LaPorte took frrst prrze Many of the fellows and grrls went out for sports and cheerrng In tenth grade Mark Squrres became secretary of Student Councrl In prrze speakrng Mark Squrres agarn took frrst prtze 1n the Semor I-hgh contest At the beglnnrng of our Junror year we elected Mark Squrres as presrdent whrle t e students elected hrm vrce presrdent of Student Councll Mark also brought honor to our school as presrdent of the Columbra County Student Councll and as a frnalrst rn the Amerrcan Leglon speakrng contest Our frrst money makrng project was the cat booth at the Ag Farr A new project besrdes our two Informal dances was selllng food after school That added money to our treasury as well as berng welcomed by many students who partlcrpated rn after school act1v1t1es Another frrst for our class was the Junror plannrng day whrch was very successful Here we planned our act1v1t1es for the year In May we held our Crnderella Prom wrth Carol Hall chosen as queen That year rn prrze speakrng Nancy Doell won top honors Durlng the summer Pat Churchrll and Betty Jane Mrchaluk were chosen to represent our school at Grrls State held rn Saratoga Sprrngs and John Brusre won many prrzes exhrbltrng cattle at farrs Now rn our last year Mark Squxres became presldent of Student Councrl and edxtor of the 54 Roe Ian News Phrl Gellert was elected as class presrdent and edrtor of the 54 Ro Ian As the D A R representatlve we chose Pat Churchrll Many of our classmates partrcrpated 1n sports Harold Traganza was named on the All Star Team of the Central Hudson Valley League Phrl Gellert Drck LaPorte Ken Frrnk and Ken Kromer were on the fxrst stung The Wyman IWIHS Ken Frrnk Harold Traganza and Paul Wled played therr best on the basketball court Sherla Rothvoss was chosen Varsrty Cheerleadrng Captarn To make money for our senror trrp we sold popcorn at the Ag Farr sold rce cream and soda checked coats at the basketball games held card and statronery sales a magazrne campargn and many rnformal dances Our play a comedy called We Shook the Famlly Tree starred Joan LaPorte Donn Therlman John Brusre Dons Davls Norman Osofsky Nancy Doell and many others The brggest event whrch clrmaxed our school years was commencement when we recelved our drplomas takxng us from hrgh school xnto the wrde wrde world , . .
