You And Me Ah, sweet freedom . . . freedom to be crazy, to let people see who you really are, to be a bit goofy, to share a silly laugh . . . Rocky Mountain Asylum for the Insane? Not really - but everything is more fun if you ' re just a bit crazy! (Things are really fun around here!) So come and share the freedom of Rocky with us find out what fun it can be! A friend is a person who thinks you ' re a good egg . . . even if you ' re slightly cracked! The power of creative imagination is the main instrument of Freedom Do what you want to do Be what you want to be Look the way you want to look Act the way you want to act . . Think the way you want to think Speak the way you want to speak Follow the goals you want to follow Live according to the truths within yourself. y Let me be free . . . free to join as many things as I can handle without killing myself — or free to join nothing but the company of my friends — free to be by myself — or surrounded by many. Let me be free . . . To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe. If one advances confidently in the directions of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, He will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. 10 Ideals are like stars — you will not succeed in touching them with your hands. But like the seafaring man on the desert of water, you chose them as your guides, and following them - reach your destiny. Let me be free . . . free to really learn from those who teach, free to goof off in my own time, and free to try my best ... let me be free . . . il Discovery Today a man discovered gold fame; Another flew the stormy seas; Another saw an unnamed world aflame; One found the germ of a disease, But what high fates my paths attend For I, today, I found a friend. — Helen Baker Parker 12 Let me be free . . . free to be myself with my friends, for if they truly are friends — they ' ll understand. Let me hug - or throw a teasing punch, let me be goofy, but also serious when that ' s what ' s needed, and let me help . but always, let me be me, and — let me be free . 13 Let me be free . . . free enough to realize that all of us, no matter what our positions, are no better or worse than anyone else — just different . . 14 15 Let me be free . . . free enough to believe in the ghost of Losekamp, free enough to get a laugh out of a decorated car, free enough to enjoy an April Fool ' s joke, and free enough to see the humor in a funny old bathroom. But most of all let me always remember that it ' s best when you and me are free to be . . . you and me! % t Si ;;. 4PW reshmen ■ 1 i Wm Stuart Agnew Billings, Montana Mary Ke Allard Helena, Montana Nancy Anderson Cathy Atkinson Mike Ballstaedt Plentywood, Montana Brownstown, Indiana Federal Way, Washington Karen Barbee Dean Barrick Nancey Battershell Lewistown, Montana Moccasin, Montana Helena, Montana Karen Beierle Billings, Montana Susan Beley Harlowton, Montana - « i l i Gertie Benner Baker, Montana Susie Berta Rock Springs, Wyoming Vicki Black Sarah Blackburn Missoula, Montana Rochester, Minnesota 18 Carol Bradley Libya, N. Music And Dram Al Guinn returned to Rocky as band director after several years absence. One of the first, and most visible things he did was to re-institute the marching band program and Band Day. The band marched for all home games and were joined by a small group of alumni for homecoming, and bands from seven area schools for Band Day ' 76. The concert band performed at Christmas and in the spring. All in all it seemed a pretty good year and it looks like the band will be bigger and better next year. Lead Band Back Into The Open The stage band this year was led by Larry Hill. They gave two concerts — one outside at the final week of class picnic. , v o Choir Tours State A large number of freshmen swelled the ranks of the Rocky Choir to over 60 this year. Those who worked with him were touched by the sincerity and love he extend ed to all whom he met. Even those who never had the privilege to work with him can ' t help but realize his contribution to Rocky and its experience. We all join together in wishing him a most rewarding and happy future. The Rocky Mountain College Drama Department exists to provide a setting in which those who have chosen to investigate the Theatre Arts may find the freedom to experiment and the encouragement to learn. Unlike community, regional, and commercial theatre, a college theatre department exists to encourage its students to reach for goals that are beyond their grasp, in order that these goals may ultimately be brought within their reach. You are cordially invited to join with us in this process of experimentation, and to share with us in the joy of discovery. - -,v Ckibs R o c k y R o a d S c h o 1 a r s Rocky Road Scholars, this year under the leadership of Rusty Harper, again set off around Montana and Wyoming to conduct worship services, celebrations, and youth rallies. Debbie Freeman, from Rocky, is chosen to be the new National Vice-President: Education on the 1976-78 Spur Council. Deb ' s office keeps her busy, corresponding with the 48 chapters across the country. But it also has bright spots. As National Vice President, she is expected to attend conventions — and that means travel! This year ' s travel included flying to L.A. this fall, and a trip to Denver this summer . . . and even more exciting times next year!
