Science apartment The Science Department works to direct the student into scien- tific channels by the use of the scientific attitude. The modern world has caused the stress on science to increase. To meet the growing demands of the world around us, Rocky Mount Senior High School offers courses in biology, chemistry, and physics. Ad- vanced biology is offered to students wishing deeper study in that field. Lab work, lectures, and projects aid in arousing the student's interest. Adrianna Grant, Henry Strickland, and Stewart Smith experiment with the pulley, to learn the fundamentals of one of the six simple ma- chines. The mathematics curriculum at Rocky Mount Senior High is designed to give the student a solid mathematical background. The student is taught to think logically and to see the general in the particular. Such teaching helps him to broaden his outlook on all phases of life. Our Math Department now offers to all students plane and solid geometry, Algebra I and II, college algebra, and trigonometry. New material added to the traditional analytical geometry and calculus course is designed to help the senior adjust to the abstract viewpoint of college mathematics.
